Locality.

Chef Boutonne is 15 mins away by car, again with all the usual shops and restaurants, you would expect. Plus a Chateau with a fishing lake and riverside walks.
In the next hamlet of Pioussay, is the Chateau de Jouhe. There are many activities to be enjoyed in the area depending on your requirement. Generaly a rural area, not suited to 'Disco Man' so rural pursuits, walking, fishing, cycling etc.

It was our first holiday in France, we received a warm welcome, and felt immediately at home. The gite offered us loads of space, which was great with the kids, and as we were travelling with another couple, the way the accommodation was set up was perfect. The garden was huge and very peace full with loads of room for the kids to play and run free, they slept like logs :-) The two boys made great friends with Tim, the owner, who let them 'help' with cleaning the pool and gardening, and now they often ask "when are we going back to France?" I received a very professional reflexology treatment from Brigitta, which I can definitely recommend to anyone, being a professional masseur myself All in all we had a great and relaxing vacation, and will be sure to return in the coming years. Thanks T+B your doing great. |

2009 and 2010 saw me spending Christmas and New Year's Eve at Le Petit Châtaignier. 2011 would not let me and I was seriously bummed. The peace and quiet, the coziness, the lovely people, the well behaved cuddly dog and friendly cat… A piece of heaven I sorely missed last year's end. Meanwhile, I have spent a week at Le Petit Châtaignier in September and loved it then too. The gîte was a perfect temporary home to come back to, the beds were better than at many a B&B I have spent the night, the fig tree in the back yard was loaded with fruits free to eat, and the ever cheerful owners made sure their place is the first to pop into my mind whenever I want to spend time abroad. The reception was very enthusiastic and remained so throughout my stay. While I was there, the owners showed me all the places worth visiting, treated me like a family member whenever I showed my face and went out of their way to accommodate me. For example, when they went out for groceries, they asked me if I needed anything and would bring it when I did or I could ride with them. (I don't drive.) They made me feel right at home! The area is great for walking and biking and warming myself by a blazing fire is just one of the many pleasant memories I have. I am definitely hoping to go back this year. Thanks again for a lovely time, guys. |

We travelled with a large group ranging from 7 to 70 year olds. We were charmed by the prperty very rustic but equipped with everything you could need. It was lovely to have a welcome basket of regional goodies on the table when we arrived. there are 3 rooms in one wing and 3 in the other with a batthroom at the bottom of each set of stairs.. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need and we ate at the property everyday and cooked for 11 so we know! There was a selection of games and DVD;s but we did not use them much as the weather was glorious. we appreciated the pool and sunloungers more. We found the owners very friendly and extremely helpful without being intrusive, we loved having the dog Shriva stay with us in the garden |
