Set in 3 acres in a small hamlet in the heart of the Charente Maritime countryside near to Cognac but only 30 minutes from the golden beaches of Royan lies La Galerie & occupies an enviable location surrounded by vineyards, sunflowers & superb woodland for that idyllic holiday away from the hustle & bustle of everyday life.
La Galerie is conveniently situated only 4.5 hours from the ferry port of St. Malo and 55 minutes from both La Rochelle & Bordeaux airports & only 10 minutes from the A10 motorway which connects all of northern France with Charente Maritime. The village of Lorignac is a 3 minute drive away with shop and bar/restaurant. The nearest town (Mirambeau) with bars, shops and supermarket is a 15 minute drive away. The nearest village to Lorignac offers butcher, baker, wine shop, post office & much more.
In addition the area offers lots for families, birdwatchers, walkers, cyclists, photographers, golfers etc.

Lorignac area
Lorignac is situated close to the Gironde Estuary, the Altantic Coast but only 1 hour from the bustling city of Bordeaux with its eay tram connection to the city centre.
We are only 10 minutes from the very pretty marina of Mortagne Sur Gironde with several restaurants.
Royan & St. George de Didonne are premier coastal resorts only 20-30 minutes away offering all the sophistication of French beach life, various watersports and beach activities for children.
Cognac, the heart of Brandy making is 30 minutes away making a good day out to visit the famous Cognac houses such as Hennessy, Courvoisier & Hine.
The large town of Saintes is only a 30 minute drive away with its shops and restaurants and amphitheatre.
For sports lovers the quiet country roads are perfect for a bike ride and there are lots of specially marked tracks for mountain bikes, horseriding (the local stables is 10 mins away) and walkers. There are 18 hole golf courses at Royan, Cognac and Saintes and a 9 hole course at Montendre which are all within 45 minutes.
Being right in the country, there are many birds to see so it is a great place for those with an interest in birds.
