The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Var region
For one of the greatest choices for holiday enjoyment imaginable the Var region of France is a fabulous place to visit. On the Cote D'Azur lies St Tropez, famous not only for its beaches and playboy image but for its colourful market and exclusive classic yacht events.
Just along the magnificent coastline to the east are other popular resorts such as St. Maxime, Frejus and St Raphael. To the west is Hyeres overlooking the golden isles of Porquerolles & Port Cros. But in the Var the coastline is only the start becase just in from the coast away from the all year round activity there are wonderful Provencal hill villages that have remained unchanged through the centuries set amongst forests of cork, oak and parasol pines, lavender fields and vineyards. Further inland you enter La Provence Vert - cooler in winter, sometimes hotter in summer but always peaceful & calming with wonderful driving on roads free of traffic.
Lorgues area
Founded on a gentle sunny slope more than 1000 years ago, Lorgues in Provence is a medieval town with narrow picturesque streets, where the market place is the scene of fiercely contested games of petanque and where every fountain is an invitation to linger. Its motto, "In Lorgues we live long contented lives", perfectly illustrates a typically Provencal sense of wellbeing. Two rivers, the Argens and the Florieye, form the natural boundaries of the town in the centre of the Var, between Mediterranean and the Gorges du Verdon. Beneath the sun of southern France Lorgues proudly displays its architectural heritage. The belfry and its cast iron bell tower dating from 1623, the imposing Collegiale Saint Martin and the Fontaine de la Noix in Carrara marble. Savour the cool boulevard de la Republique in the shade of the region's most beautiful plane trees and the authentic charm of the ancient town houses.
A 35 minute car drive will give holiday makers access to the famous coastal road from St Tropez to Menton connecting all the glitzy resorts of the Cote D'Azur. In contrast, meander through picturesque villages, vineyards and perfumed pine forests en route to the peaceful scenic Lac de St Croix and the vertiginous Gorges du Verdon.
Places to visit include the Abbey du Thoronet, Gorges du Verdon, the stunning Lac St Croix, Moustier St Marie, Tourtour, Aups & Villecroze.
How to get there
- Cheap flights are available from Easyjet and Ryannair to Nice, Marseilles (both one hour by road) or Toulon (45 minutes!). - Take Eurostar from St Pancras to Lille and from there direct to Toulon. - Car hire through Holiday Autos (good value).

We also ask that you leave 50 euros in the apartment for cleaning.
