It is centrally located for trips to Vienna, skying , walks and bicycle tours. Nearby is scenic Melk and the Wachau on the Danube with medieval villages, castles and wine-yards. Bicycle tours along the Danube are widely popular.
The Hohe Schule was built in 1574 in Loosdorf by the count of Losenstein with the nearby castle Schloss Schallaburg as one of the first universities in Mid- Europe.
Cars can be parked at the property area. The large garden can be used for leisure breaks. The inner-court has been renovated to its original state.
Shopping facilities and railway station are at walking distance.Nearby you find a nice bakery, pizzeria, Chinese and Thai restaurant and 'heurigen' with local food in scenic environments.
On the Danube leisure boats frequent the many medieval villages with castles and wine-yards for the famous wines. Bicycle tours along the Danube are widely popular. Vienna is in 1 hour reach as well as other interesting towns as Linz, Krems and St Polten.

The Lower Austria region
Loosdorf is centrally located in Lower Austria for trips in a fascinating region. Melk with its world famous Monastery (UNESCO heritage, 'the Name of the Rose') is at 15 km at the beginning of the Wachau. Here the river Danube curves along medieval towns, monasteries, vine yards and castles like Aggstein and Durnstein. The Wachau cycle route attracts many cycle enthusiasts. Boat tours can be made and wine tasted at restaurants along the Danube.
The area is famous for its flower blossoms and fruits. Apricots, peaches, cherish, walnuts can be bought along the streets. They complement the many apples and peers grown in region. Grapes are the basis for the many wineries along the Danube.
Vienna at 60 km distance can be reached from the house by road or train. It has many attractions as the Palace Schönbrunn, the Opera, Hofburg, the amusement park Prater, Spanish Rising School, Stefansdom.
St Pölten is a pleasant cultural town at 20 km offering music, film festivals its Italian style centre and home to 'Ironman' sport.
Nice forest and mountain walks can be made in the nearby Pielachtal, the Wachau, Lilienfeld, Annaberg or Mariazell.
The Hohe Schule is located in Loosdorf, a small village with basic amenities at your doorstep. Several restaurants, a famous bakery, grocery shops and even a rather unique ' fresh eggs and goatmilk machine' can be found here.
The Renaissance castle Schallaburg with its international exhibitions is 6 km from Loosdorf.
The Pilach river crosses Loosdorf . Walks and bicycle tours can be made on the 'Pielachtal'route'. Horse-riding, fishing and bathing is possible at the little lake near Schloss Albrechtsberg (3km). Forest walks can start in Sierning/ Haunoldstein (6km) towards Schloss de Monte Kukuli.
The Wachau and Danube valley offers visits and walks to e.g. Schloss Duernstein. Aggsteiin.
