The West Country region

Cornwall is the perfect choice of holiday destination offering beautiful scenery, fresh air and a relaxed pace of life. The landscape varys from steep cliffs dropping down to sheltered unspoilt coves and sandy beaches, pretty fishing villages with busy harbours, wooded valleys and wide open spaces of the moors.

Cornwall offers plenty to do whether you want to relax or be active. Beautiful houses and gardens, fishing, sailing, walking, painting, sandy beaches and quaint villages are just some of Cornwall's many attractions.

The climate in south east cornwall is very mild where summer arrives early and autum lingers on.

Looe

Looe provides all you can ask of a holiday in Cornwall. The historic town of Looe is split in two by a wide river which is home to many colourful sailing and fishing boats. Trips can be taken on the river to see the scenery or to go out to sea in a glass bottom boat to watch the marine life. Seals are a regular attraction or take a fishing trip to catch your supper.

East Looe is the main town which has a wide sandy beach and safe bathing approximately two minutes walk from the cottage. All along the harbour children and adults enjoy crabbing and fishing or just watching the world go by . Away from the beach you will find picturesque streets with many shops, award winning restaurants and tea shops. West Looe is quieter and also very pretty. In West Looe you can escape the hustle bustle for a few hours. To get to West Looe, you can take a ferry ride across the river or a leisurely walk across the bridge and up the hill to Hanafore with its spectacular views. West Looe also has lots to offer including tennis, swimming, bowling, pitch and put. The children will spend hours in the many rock pools. The coastline is breath-taking and there are many coastal walks.

There is a sailing regatta every year in Looe which is fabulous. Another new attraction and now an annual event is the Looe music festival.

There is also plenty to do in Looe in the out of season months as it is a working fishing harbour. You can enjoy a relaxed pace of life visiting the surrounding area or just chilling out in Looe. The many restaurants and shops are open all year round. The highlight of the year is New Year's Eve when the town comes alive wih everybody in fancy dress. Looe is reputed to be one of the top ten places to be at New Year.

Looe Golf Club is approximately 3 miles from Looe. The club was designed by six-times open champion, Harry Vardon and is set in an area of breathtaking scenery. The panoramic views from the course are stunning. The clubhouse consists of a bar, dining room, professional shop and full changing rooms and has a reputation for being one of the friendliest clubs in the South West.

"Wonderful cottage, contemporary and in a beautiful location"

Stayed for three nights in the gorgeous April cottage with husband and 19 month old son. The cottage is extremely well equipped with lovely interior. The kitchen was well equipped which made self catering easy.
Great location with all amenities within walking distance. The owner was very helpful and gives fantastic directions, do not follow your sat nav when you drive into Looe, the clutch on your car will never forgive you :)
We travelled all around Cornwall during our three days and found Looe a great place to travel to and from. Would love to stay again.
