The West Country region

Looe still retains its importance as a major Cornish fishing port, with a sizeable fleet and busy fish market.

Enjoy a guided tour around East Looe's maze of narrow streets and courtyards, visit the 16th century Old Guildhall Museum, relive Looe's maritime past at the Living from the Sea exhibition, or just while away the hours on the sandy beach separated from the river mouth by the Banjo Pier.

Across the seven-arched Victorian bridge lies West Looe, with its 16th century Jolly Sailor Inn and St Nicholas Church and at Hannafore you can explore the rock pools on the beach and look across to St George's, or Looe Island.

There are boat trips to the island in the summer season, as well as along the coast. For the more adventurous there are shark- fishing trips. A train journey on the Looe Valley Line will take you to the ancient stone circle at Duloe; the holy well at St Keyne; and Paul Corin's Music Machines.

There are hundreds of places of interest in Cornwall to visit, so here are a few of them:

• The Eden Project - the eighth wonder of the world and the hugely successful biome project near St.Austell.

• Land's End - one of Britain’s best loved landmarks, famous for its unique location and beautiful scenery.

• The Lost Gardens of Heligan - Heligan, seat of the Tremayne family for more than 400 years, is one of the most mysterious estates in England.

• The National Maritime Museum, Falmouth - On the Falmouth harbour-side, the National Maritime Museum Cornwall transports you into the world of small boats and Cornish maritime history.

"Absolutely superb!!!!!"

I had hoped that the property was as good as the advert said it was. What I did not expect was how much better it really was. For my husband, myself and 16 year old son it was just perfect, beautifully laid out and furnished to a very high standard with extra little touches that turned it into a warm and comfortable home.
We did not venture that far from Looe. There is no need to with lots of interesting shops and beautiful walks along the coast path to do. The view from the appartment windows is well worth spending a long leisurely breakfast over just watching the world outside.
We will go back but for longer next time!!!!
