Situated 3km from beautiful sandy beaches and also within the Marais Poitevin nature reserve, La Maison de Soleil provides every comfort for up to 6 guests. Newly refurbished for 2007 there are 2 spacious bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin) and a large living room with a sofabed; elegant tub chairs; UK TV and DVD/CD facilities. To avoid wasting precious holiday time there is a dishwasher and washing machine in the fully-equipped kitchen. The house has a large, private and south-facing garden for the sole use of La Maison de Soleil. Longeville-sur-Mer is a pretty Vendéen town with restaurants, bars and a range of shops all within easy walking distance.

La Maison de Soleil was fully refurbished in 2007.
A travel cot with mattress and a high chair are available - please request them when booking.

The terrace is decked with wood and there is a patio table with chairs and parasol as well as sun loungers and a barbecue.

Conditions
If more than 12 weeks before your stay, a deposit of 50% is requested at the time of booking. Full payment is required 12 weeks before your stay. A security deposit (fully refundable after your visit) of 150 euros per week is requested at the time of booking. Please see our website for full booking information.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vendee region
The Vendée has a microclimate which means that the area enjoys up to 2600 hours of sunshine a year. This is almost as many as the south of France and almost twice as many as London! Well-established as a tourist area you will find activities to suit all of the family. From a castle in Talmont-St-Hilaire and a tower in Moricq to a zoo in Les Sables d'Olonne there really is something for everyone. All towns have local produce markets, wonderful opportunities to try local specialities and soak up some of the friendly Vendéen atmosphere. The summer also sees the area hosting many music festivals and watersport competitions. Every four years the world famous Vendée globe race sets off from Les Sables d'Olonne and the Vendée is regularly featured in the itinerary for the Tour de France cycle race.
Situated in the southern reaches of the Loire valley, the Vendée has four main wine-producing areas : Brem-sur-Mer, Vix, Pissotte and Mareuil-sur-Lay. Visits and tastings can be arranged and most restaurants stock local wines for you to enjoy.
For history buffs l'Historial de la Vendée is the place to visit. (http://historial.vendee.fr/) Telling the long history of the area from pre-historic times to the present day there is also a simulated helicopter ride over the Vendée, exciting for visitors of all ages.
Slightly further afield are the leisure parks of Futuroscope (www.futuroscope.com) and Puy de Fou (www.puydufou.com) both 'must-sees' for the family. For bargain-hunters, Cholet has a designer outlet - Marques Avenue with many popular labels at reduced prices. (www.marquesavenue.com)
The Longeville sur Mer area
La Maison de Soleil is situated in Longeville-sur-Mer which boasts twice-weekly markets and a range of shops and restaurants. The south Vendee coast has many attractions ranging from walks, vineyards, chateaux, dedicated cycle tracks, museums, sea-life centres, not forgetting the all-important beaches and sea! Every summer there are numerous music festivals and watersport festivals.

Clean,well furnished and spacious accommodation. Ideal property for families or couples.Close to wonderful beaches and countryside. Only a few minutes walk from a welcoming French village which has a local market,restaurants and bar. Supermarket close by. Great property for your own made to measure holiday. |

The website was easy to follow and the correspondence with Cheryl (owner) was very informative. This continued when Cheryl met us on arrival, which made for a very welcoming start. The accommodation was much larger than we had expected with tall ceilings making it light and airy. Everything was exceptionally clean with all the facilities we required, making it feel like a home from home. The location was ideal, being in a typical quaint French village, yet only a walk or short drive to beautiful beaches. The village has a superb boulangerie, ideal for breakfast pastries and the market is perfect for local produce. The village is also well placed should you wish to explore local areas of interest, we particularly liked La Rochelle and L'lle de Re. |

Having now stayed at this gite 4 times with my husband and two dogs, we obviously love it. With the fenced in-garden and close proximity to the beach, it is an ideal break away for us. There are bars and restaurants close by if required but after a few hours walking on the beach or running in the forest, it is nice to chill out in the quiet garden and relax. Cheryl and Jonathan have always been very flexible with us and made us feel very welcome. Looking forward to going again nex year! |
