Home description
This charming cottage is converted from an old stone building on a former cognac estate at Le Manoir de Longeveau. The cottages tall arched façade originally housed the grape crusher in years gone by! Nowadays it features a generous ground floor living room opening up to a kitchen and dining area. The downstairs opens onto the terrace and garden which leads down to the golf course. Upstairs the delightful master bedroom has an en-suite shower room / w.c. Two twin bedrooms share a separate shower room. The property benefits from views across the golf course and the valley beyond.
Please note that we have five other different but equally charming three-bedroomed cottages on site, as well as a choice of larger or sized cottages.
Longeveau itself adjoins a small hamlet in a beautiful valley designated by the Michelin Guide as a place of special beauty. Within the grounds, we have a 9 hole golf course, suitably challenging for golfers of all abilities, and three tennis courts. We also have three private swimming pools and a sports barn. A bar, restaurant and terrace are located at the Manoir, enjoying views over the grounds and beyond.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region
The region is known for it’s great climate with sun drenched summers, rolling green hills and valleys as far as you can see, and all the history you could ever need. The food and drink is superb and the people are welcoming. The area is a paradise for wine lovers who may wish to visit the numerous chateaux and wine caves on the Bordeaux wine trail.
Longeveau / Le Manoir du Longeveau area
Longeveau is located on the Charente / Dordogne border in a beautiful valley in rural south west France. Nearby villages are full of activity, with places to visit, dine and drink. The picturesque old Roman town of Aubeterre, which was recently voted one of the prettiest villages in France is only a short drive away. Wander up through the winding streets to the 12th century subterranean church carved out of the rock or enjoy a drink on the village square with it’s variety of shops, eateries museums, all overlooked by a 1000 year old chateau. Alternatively walk down to the river beach for a swim, relax or a bite to eat.
Slightly further are the market towns of Chalais and Riberac (with one of the biggest markets in France!). Further still, about a 45 minute drive, are the capital towns of Angouleme and Perigeux which offer a wider and more sophisticated range of shops in a typically French setting. Brantome, nicknamed the ‘Venice of Perigord’ is well worth a visit and is under an hours drive.
Also within easy reach are towns such as St. Emilion, Bergerac, Cognac and Bordeaux, all famous for their wines and spirits and equally beautiful places to visit. Beyond Bordeaux are the unspoilt beaches of the Atlantic coast with several superb resorts all within a reasonable drive.
Local activities range from walking, sight seeing, fishing, cycling, canoeing or even jet–skiing and quad biking to name but a few. And of course wine tasting and dejustation are a staple part of the French experience!
There are a variety of local festivals, fetes and firework displays that take place throughout the summer in the local villages and towns. These are aimed at all ages and generally take place between the months of June and September.
Children will find plenty to occupy themselves and their families with activities ranging from crazy golf, horse riding and tree top adventure to daytrip’s to the popular attractions of Aqualand Water Park, La Palmyre Zoo and Futurescope.
Longeveau is fortunate to have a number of very good restaurants in the area, ranging from cafés to fine dining. As with everything, our staff will be happy to recommend or help you with decisions or to make reservations for you.
