Maison Micheline, Longeveau
from £96 /night help
Cottage | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 8
Along with its neighbour, Maison Micheline is named after the former habitants of the property. Jean and Micheline lived in the village for over 30 years, before moving down the road to St Severin in 2010. Maison Micheline occupies the left-hand side of the property, which has been transformed into a comfortable, stylish cottage, graced with lots of charm and modern comforts.
This old stone cottage was rendered in the 1960's (a very trendy thing to do back then!). Nowadays, a helping of greenery and plants bring a little colour to the grey exterior. On the inside, many of the original stone walls and oak beams remain, adding to the character of the rooms. A large stone fire place dominates the living area downstairs, which is otherwise finished in a clean modern style.
The open plan kitchen is fully equiped, with microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, big American fridge and all of the utensils you will need to cater your holiday dining. At the front of the house is a twin room looking overlooking the village green, and a separate bath/shower room. At the back of the house is a small but lovely double bedroom, with en-suite.
Upstairs, the landing leads to a large twin bedroom (both twin bedrooms can easily be turned into doubles if needed). The spacious master bedroom is also located upstairs, with plenty of wardrobe space, en-suite with double shower, small double doors, flat screen TV, original oak trusses and stone walls.
Outside, Maison Micheline has a small but private garden. A terrace with BBQ and ample space for dining, plus a small grassed area for soaking up the sun or for the little ones to play. With all of the other facilities at Longeveau, only a stones though away..
Additional beds can be put in some properties for increased accommodation and twin or double combinations can be altered if required. Cots, high chairs and plenty of other baby bits are available if needed. Internet access, wifi and TV (with Sky Sports) are available from the bar, while some cottages have TV/DVDs. The garden is furnished with sun loungers, outside dining and a BBQ for the long summer days!
Please note that we have several other equally charming four-bedroomed cottages on site, as well as a choice of smaller or larger properties.
Longeveau itself is a very relaxed environment for families, groups and couples. Within the grounds we offer a range of facilities to make your holiday as relaxed or enjoyable as you wish it to be. As well as a superb range of facilities, we offer the opportunity for families or groups to socialise with others. Or simply appreciate the peace and quiet of your own company! Above all, we offer you the opportunity to relax, refresh and enjoy...
Our 'Salle de Soins' (treatment room) offers a range of massages and treatments for you to indulge in!
Our 9 hole FFG golf course is a challenge to golfers of all abilities. We have three all-weather tennis courts, a sports barn with compact tennis, basketball etc., a table tennis barn and boules pitch. We have five swimming pools (two heated / three private) plus a children's splash pool and plenty of space to relax in or explore. Golf and tennis coaching is available from local English speaking PGA / CCA qualified professionals.
For our younger guests, there is a play area, a toddlers play area, a secret play house and a crèche that runs throughout the summer. Our restaurant serves great food and shares a terrace with the bar, with south facing views across the grounds and the valley.

The Poitou-Charentes region
The region is known for it's great climate with sun drenched summers, rolling green hills and valleys as far as you can see, plus all the history you could ever need. The food and drink is superb and the people are welcoming. The area is a paradise for wine lovers who may wish to visit the numerous chateaux and wine caves on the Bordeaux wine trail.
Longeveau is located on the Charente / Dordogne border in a beautiful valley in rural South West France. Nearby villages are full of activity, with places to visit, dine and drink. The picturesque old Roman town of Aubeterre, which was recently voted one of the prettiest villages in France, is only a bike ride away. Discover the 12th century subterranean church carved out of the rock or enjoy a drink on the village square with it's variety of shops, eateries and museums, all overlooked by a 1,000 year old chateau. Alternatively walk down to the river beach for a swim, relax or a bite to eat.
The market town of Riberac (20 mins) has one of the biggest markets in France! The capital towns of Angouleme and Perigueux (45 mins) offer a wider and more sophisticated range of shops in a typically French setting. Brantome, nicknamed the 'Venice of Perigord' is well worth a visit at a similar distance. Also within easy reach are towns such as St. Emilion, Bergerac, Cognac and Bordeaux, all famous for their wines and spirits and equally beautiful places to visit.
Local activities range from walking, sight seeing, tree climbing, canoeing, cycling, fishing, or even jet–skiing and quad biking to name but a few. Wine tasting and degustation are of course a staple part of the French experience! There are a variety of local festivals, fetes and firework displays that take place throughout the summer in the local villages and towns. These are aimed at all ages and generally take place between the months of June and September.
Children will find plenty to occupy themselves and their families with activities ranging from crazy golf, horse riding and tree top adventure's to daytrip's to the popular attractions of Aqualand Water Park, La Palmyre Zoo and Futuroscope. Longeveau is fortunate to have a number of very good restaurants in the area, ranging from cafés to fine dining. As with everything, our staff will be happy to recommend or help you with decisions.
