Pinn Cottage is a lovely country house down a quiet lane in a rural setting near the Buckinghamshire/Oxfordshire border. Enjoy green views, peace and quiet and creature comforts whilst only 30 minutes away from the centres of Oxford, Bicester or Aylesbury, and from the M40. Set in large private gardens the house is fully furnished and well-equipped, and has the benefit of underfloor heating throughout, a 4-oven Aga cooker and a wood-burning stove. The floors are either stone tile or wood. It is not carpeted.

Downstairs the large kitchen is the focus of the house, with a light and bright dining area built in conservatory style and leading through french doors to outdoor terraces on both sides. Cooking is done on the Aga range, which also has a double ring electric hob on one side, useful in the summer when it may be too warm to use the Aga. The kitchen is fitted with a large Whirlpool US-style ice- and water-dispensing fridge, and Miele dishwasher. The utility room houses a washing machine and butler's sink, with a shelved pantry and wine store off it. There is also a spacious separate dining room perfect for more formal gatherings. The dining room and living room sit cosily side by side, in the older 'cottage' part of the house, with a dual aspect wood-burning stove in the fireplace between. Logs are stored at the side of the house. Off the entrance hall is a small study which can provide a quiet bolt-hole to compose e-mails if work calls.

Upstairs are four double bedrooms, 2 of which have ensuite shower rooms, while the other 2 share a family bathroom with bath and shower. The master bedroom has a superking size bed, and a walk-through wardrobe area leading to the ensuite with double-basin and walk-in shower; bedroom two has a king size bed and ensuite shower room; bedroom 3 has two single beds, one of which stows under the other when not required; bedroom 4 has a double bed and shares the main bathroom with bedroom 3. There is also a downstairs cloakroom lavatory. Linens and towels are provided.

On the main terrace there is garden dining furniture, and a barbecue on the smaller terrace. At the top of the garden is a summerhouse and deck with all-weather rattan seating area where you can enjoy far-reaching views over the countryside and many a red sunset. The summerhouse has a power supply, so there is a fridge for drinks, and lights for those late summer evenings. The garden is largely south-facing and well-established, sloping up from the house with several sets of steps leading to the top, (hence unsuitable for toddlers or anyone with limited mobility). There is ample parking in front of the house for 4 cars.

The old thatched villages of Long Crendon and Haddenham are only one mile and three miles away respectively; in between is our local market town of Thame with its variety of shops (incl Waitrose) and weekly market. The area is blessed with a huge choice of excellent pubs and restaurants, from our local favourite just around the corner to Michelin-starred establishments a short drive away.

Our nearest station, ten minutes away, is Haddenham & Thame Parkway on the Chiltern Line out of London Marylebone, so we are easily commutable from London. We are also very easily accessible from the M40.

The Buckinghamshire region

Ours is a rural region offering all the pleasures of country living yet within easy striking distances of towns and cities and their amenities. It is walking country, with many footpaths and bridleways, places of historical interest waiting to be discovered, thriving market towns to visit and pretty thatched villages to wander through. The Chilterns (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) can be found just to the east of the region, and the ancient national trail of The Ridgeway further to the south. Nowhere is far from a good-sized town or city for shopping, cinema and other urban pursuits. Similarly we are close to both road and rail networks leading countrywide.

Long Crendon

In the Buckinghamshire/Oxfordshire borders we have small local communities which enjoy the best of both worlds - a rural life in beautiful countryside as well as access to historic Oxford, 30 minutes away, and of course our capital city London (50 minutes away by train on the Chiltern Line into London Marylebone, which makes this a popular commuting distance). We are also easily accessible from the M40 (ten minutes away) all of which makes this area a perfect mid-way point for any multi-stop tour of the country. There are many historic properties to visit in the area (including Waddesdon Manor and Blenheim Palace to name only two) and a myriad different events to chose from throughout the year. Cinemas, theatres and larger shops are 30 minutes away in Aylesbury or Oxford, and Oxford also has its many museums and colleges. Local communities are busy organising film clubs, sports clubs, summer fetes and concerts, so the tranquillity of the area belies a very active society. This is Midsomer Murders country so you may well come across guided tours in the vicinity. We are lucky to have a wide choice of local pubs and restaurants and to live in an area proud of its local produce.
