Lokve Cottage is a traditional oak-built home (dating back 100 years) which has been recently renovated throughout. It is located in a beautiful woodland setting nestled back some 30 metres from a quiet country lane. The cottage has beamed ceilings throughout, a wood-fired stove in the open-plan lounge and dining room and a traditional stone barbecue outside.
The cottage enjoys woodland views in all directions in a very desirable secluded position and is set in extensive mature gardens. In all, an idyllic and serene place to stay be it for a romantic getaway, a family holiday or an adventure/activity break.

The Kvarner/Lika region
Gorski Kotar is Croatia's answer to the lakes and mountains areas we more commonly associate with Austria, Switzerland and Slovenia. Nearly two-thirds of the entire region is forested.
Lokve is just 30 minutes drive from Rijeka - Croatia's third largest city - with its airport & port. And Croatia's capital, Zagreb, is a 90 minute drive away. Uncommonly for an away-from-it-all destination, the coast is surprisingly near by. The Adriatic beach resort of Crikvenica is half an hour from Lokve.
A little further away is the coastal resort of Opatija - a 45 minute drive. Other day trip suggestions include Plitvice Lakes & National Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) (1hr 45 mins from Lokve), Platak Ski Resort (20 mins from Lokve), the Motovun Film Festival 28 July - 1 Aug 2008 (90 mins from Lokve), Lipica Stud Farm in Slovenia (1hr 40mins from Lokve) and Ucka Mountain & Nature Park (1hr from Lokve).
Lokve / Gorski Kotar area
Lokve's best-known attraction is Lake Lokve (seventh largest lake in Croatia) - a short 5 minute stroll from the cottage which offers swimming, fishing, boating, walks and two nearby restaurants. Also well worth a visit is Golubinjak Nature Forest Park and its caves - just a 10 minute drive from the cottage.
Lokve's village centre is about 10 minutes from the cottage and has a few shops, ATM, tourist office. More choice can be found in Delnice (Gorski Kotar's main town) about 10 minutes drive away. Slightly further afield are Zeleni Vir Canyon in Skrad (15 miles away) and Risnjak (Croatia's sixth biggest National Park) in Crni Lug (about 15 minutes from Lokve). Activities in and near to Lokve include walking, cycling, white water rafting, hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, swimming, horse-riding and skiing.
