The Languedoc-Roussillon / Herault region

The Languedoc region is known for its stunning beauty from the impressive city of Montpellier, along the coastline of amazingly, long sandy beaches to the hills and mountains of the Lodévois area. Unbeatable and remarkable for walking, riding and soaking in the sites or enjoying the many water sports of the majestic Salagou lake with its red gullied landscape.
The abbey of St Guillem de Desert and the Priory of Grandmont show exceptional richness in Romanesque art, the historic former captial city of Pézenas with its winding narrow streets of many art and crafts shops are all close to the apartment. The walled cities of Aigues Mortes, Narbonne and Carcassonne are within easy driving distance. The region is well-known for the largest wine growing area in the world, olive groves, stunning scenery and the amazing 300 days of glorious sunshine.
The Lodeve / Grezac area
Lodeve is an attractive market town on the foothills outside Montpellier. A stunning mediaeval cathedral dominates the central square with several cafes surrounding the typically French town park. There is a good supply of locally grown food and wine at the Saturday market and excellent choice of restaurants in the town and surrounding villages.
Lodeve is a cultural centre with its world famous art gallery's major international exhibitions, the annual Poetry and Music festival and the centre of craftsmen designers and interior design. The fascinating Buddhist temple of Lerab Ling is close-by as are the mountains of Cevennes, amazing Roman viaduct of Pont du Gard, enormous caves of Grotte des Demoiselles and Labeil, impressive deep gorges and the unusal gardens of The Bambouseraie. Pony treking, golf, climbing, fishing and cycling are all easily available close-by for the more energic sport-lover. Grezac is considered the premier location in Lodeve, facing south with multiple vistas and overlooking the beautiful town below.
