Achard
About the home
Achard is a spacious, well-appointed cottage in a quiet rural crofting area, with sea/mountain/coastal views from all bedrooms, kitchen/diner and lounge. The generous garden plot is surrounded by fields in which highland cattle and sheep may be seen grazing, and there are no nearby neighbours. Several guests have been delighted by evening visits of red deer!
You are assured of a warm welcome, and since I live only a mile from the property I'm on hand to offer assistance if required - my husband is a keen walker (and member of the Assynt Mountain Rescue Team) and can give guidance on walks of all types in the area, from very gentle to strenuous.
The cottage makes a superb base for a wide variety of outdoor activities (e.g. climbing, walking, cycling, birdwatching, sea kayaking, beachcombing); if you have less strenuous interests, it's good for for touring and exploring the many attractions of the north-west coast, or for a peaceful relaxing rest in a quiet rural location. There's plenty for children to do as well, with nearby sandy beaches at Clashnessie, Balchladich and Stoer, all surrounded by rocky coastline. Visit my website to see what previous guests have enjoyed whilst staying here!

Children are welcome at Achard, although it is the responsibility of parents/guardians to ensure their safety at all times, and to take care that they do not cause any damage to the property. Achard is not guaranteed to be child-proof (e.g. there are no child-proof latches on the kitchen cupboards), although I am not aware of any specific hazards within the house – please check the property on your arrival and advise me if there are any aspects regarding child safety that you aren’t happy with.
Sorry, no pets, and no smoking within the cottage.

Travel to Inverness by car, bus, train or plane! If using a car or hire car, take the A9 north - the road crosses the Moray Firth on the magnificent Kessock Bridge onto the Black Isle; after 6 miles turn left at the Tore roundabout onto the A835 signposted Ullapool. Keep on this road through Ullapool travelling north until you reach Ledmore junction, where you turn left onto the A837 for Lochinver. A mile before Lochinver turn right onto the B869 single track road and after 7 miles continue through Stoer, and three quarters of a mile later turn left, signposted to Stoer Head Lighthouse (opposite the Stoer Village Hall). Just over a mile further on take a sharp left turn towards the lighthouse, and Achard is a few hundred yards on the left. Maps and alternative routes on my website.
It is possible to travel from Inverness to Clashmore by bus, and many visitors to the area get great pleasure by researching the public transport options (post bus, school bus, service bus etc) and planning their holidays accordingly.
