From the manager

Trevenek is a detached single storey cottage, situated in the little village of Slockavullin in the historic Kilmartin Glen, Argyll, an area of outstanding archaeological importance and one of Scotland’s richest prehistoric landscapes. Forest and canal-side walks are all within easy access, and the nearby Crinan Harbour offers water-based activities, including fishing and sailing trips. There are also many restaurants in the area specialising in seafood.

Interior

The cottage is entirely on the ground floor, with step free access and has a parking space at the front. The cosy front room has a wood-fired stove, TV/DVD player and CD player. The kitchen diner has an electric oven and hob, microwave cooker, fridge and freezer, washing machine and dryer. A small study provides a working area with internet access for the holiday-maker’s own laptop or tablet, and phone (incoming and emergency calls only).

One bedroom has twin beds which are normally placed together with a king-sized duvet over both. There is an option to request the beds to be separated with their own single duvets if required. The smaller bedroom has a standard size double bed. The bathroom has bath and over-bath electric shower. Heating is via adjustable electric heaters and wood/coal burner.

The cottage is at the top of the village, and final access is via an un-metalled road - drivers be advised! A secluded area in the back garden provides a seating area and barbecue.

Dogs are very welcome but because of free-range chickens and other livestock would need to be kept on a lead when in the outside vicinity. We would ask guests to note that the front garden is unenclosed, and that a small dog which is unsupervised might be able to get through the fencing/bushes which enclose the back garden. Guests may therefore wish to keep their dogs on a lead when out in the garden.

Explore

Kilmartin village, a pleasant 30 minute walk or 5 minute drive away, has the Kilmartin Hotel (which as well as a pub and hotel serving meals can organise fishing and sea trips). The renowned Kilmartin House Museum offers fascinating exhibits including The Valley of Ghosts audio-visual experience, weekly guided glen walks, and it has a bookshop and award winning café.

Lochgilphead is eight miles away, and has a supermarket, delicatessen, gift shops and a well-stocked book shop which has free local information booklets. There is a swimming pool, a doctors’ surgery and hospital. Although there is a limited bus which serves Slockavullin, a car is recommended to make full use of the many activities available in the area.

Dec 2019

Really nice little cottage. Perfect for our trip, only slight criticism would be the electric shower either cold or boiling hot nothing in between.

Response from the manager
Thank you very much for taking the time to comment - we’re happy to know that the cottage met your expectations and appreciate the point about the wet leaves - we have asked our housekeeper to keep an eye on this and brush them away from the steps and path. We do advise guests that final access is on a non-metalled road (as it is bumpier than we would like) but sadly we have no control over this as it is not on our property. Many thanks Morven
