Nearest shops (bakery, butcher, cafe/pub, post office) at Perrusson are within 1 mile. Situated 4 kms from the medieval town of Loches( open market days on Sat/Wed mornings), 3 kms from the 9 hole "Verneuil" Golf course! Full courses are within 60 minutes drive! Property in a hamlet, 10 minutes walk from a sandy beach (for picnics and swimming) on the Indre river and the picturesque village of St Jean with a 13th century church.
Swimming also at the municipal pool in Loches, fishing, biking and hiking trails abound in the forêt de Loches. Excellent restaurants, amusement and fun parcs such as Futuroscope are within an hour's drive while sophisticated city activities and shopping are available in Tours!

Loches area
Loches is a major tourist attraction because of its medieval walled city which resounds of the passage of Jeanne d'Arc and the Dauphin, Richard the-Lion-Hearted, Agnes Sorel and many other notables. Recently discovered paintings by Caravagio are now exposed in a special museum. The Dungeon built by Foulques Nera( over 1000 yrs ago) dominates the countryside, while the Logis Royal housed the King's favourites!
The town has lovely parcs and walks, and offers many memorable restaurants.
The Lochois has superb forests inviting long walks or bike rides along well manicured paths. Ancient towns/villages founded by templar knights (Beaulieu-les-Loches,St Jean, St Germain, St Hippolyte, etc) prehistoric sites ( Le Grand Pressigny).
How to get there
Driving From the UK: from ferry terminal(s) take the direction of Tours, ei: A28 or A10 or A85. Exit onto the N143 South towards Chateauroux bypassing Loches. Approx.5 Kms south of Loches and two kms south of Perrusson, make a right onto D41 towards "Verneuil/ La Roche Posay" for 300 Meters make right (sign post "La Roche"). Driveway to Le Poulailler is fifty meters on right!
By Air from London/Standsted: Take Ryan Air To Tours. Major car rentals are available at airport! Take the bypass from airport to the A10 for about 8 kms, take exit # 23 onto N143South towards Loches/Chateauroux. By TGV: Arrive at St Pierre des Corps ( car rentals available at station). Drive to the A10south, exit # 23 onto N143 south.
