About the home

The Stable provides luxurious and spacious accommodation for up to 4 people, situated on the small and exclusive gite arrangement of “La Vieille Ferme” - a stunning 17th century Touraine farm. Heated, covered swimming pool (10m x 4m) set in spacious garden room. Attractive sun terrace for sunbathing and relaxing, overlooking the gardens and rolling countryside.

The property is ideally situated on the edge of a small village, 2 minutes walk from a bakery, shop and restaurant. Ideally located for visiting the many chateaux, villages and vineyards of the beautiful Loire Valley.

The Loire Valley is known as the Garden of France. Throughout time, the kings of France had beautiful chateaux built - world-famous castles, such as Amboise, Chambord, Villandry, Valencay, Chenonceau, Chinon and Loches – all within easy driving distance.

The climate is mild with gently rolling valleys and slow flowing rivers - the long settled weather means that not only summer, but spring and autumn are also beautiful times to visit

A cultural landscape of great beauty - historic towns and medieval villages, splendid gardens, local vineyards, and excellent farm produce from the many local markets.

Loire wines are famous worldwide (Sancerre, Valencay, Montlouis, Vouvray, Chinon, Saumur to name but a few!) Eating in this area of France is a dream!

An outstanding area of natural beauty for nature lovers, bird watchers, walkers and cyclists – the Brenne National Park with its 1000 lakes is on the doorstep!

The Loches area

Cléré du Bois is a tranquil, unspoilt village on the borders of the Brenne Regional Park.
2 minutes walk from the property is the bakery for fresh bread and croissants, shop for essential supplies and the bar and restaurant with sun terrace, which serves both traditional French cuisine and pizzas.

The location provides an ideal base from which to explore the countryside, the châteaux, the Brenne Regional park with over 1000 lakes, wildlife walks and bird watching reserves.

10 minutes drive to the medieval town of Chatillon-sur-Indre with all amenities, including tennis courts and 20 minutes to historic Loches with its stunning chateau and excellent twice weekly market of local produce.
Quiet, country roads and gentle rolling countryside, ideal for walking, cycling and touring the beautiful market towns, villages and local vineyards.

“Lovely place for a relaxing holiday” This is a lovely gite, clean, well-equipped and quiet. Angela and Derek are very welcoming and helpful and will always do their best to meet any needs. We stayed two weeks, we swam in the gorgeous pool every day, and found the water warm even when it rained for a couple of days. Being able to hire a bike on site was great, and the croissants and pizzas in the village are brilliant. All in all, a really friendly, relaxing place, and we will go back.

“Totally relaxing, lovely setup, great hosts, fab location” Ideally situated for visiting chateaux, lovely roads for cycling. Derek and Angela made us welcome from the outset and nothing was too much trouble. We came with our 17 year old daughter who thoroughly enjoyed her stay. Loved the BBQ in the evenings and eating at the local restaurants. we will return.

“Lovely relaxing holiday” Lovely clean gite, quiet location, but all facilities needed are available. The pool was perfect set within lovely grounds. Ping pong and badminton was enjoyed by the children and the pool was child friendly and reassuringly safe. The owners were very friendly, helpfull and informative. Loches is worth a visit as is the zoo which was approximately 40 min away. We will be returning to Le Ville Ferme.

“Excellent accomodation & facilities in rural location” We have stayed in The Stable on 3 previous occasions for our summer holidays. We have always found the accomodation to be of a very high standard and seems to have been improved upon each time we stay. Our hosts are very friendly although not intrusive. They are always on hand for advice and help as and when required (booking of restaurants, places to visit etc). The new pool and sun terrace are a recent addition to an already wonderful holiday experience. In fact we have booked to return again this coming year (2012).
