The Old Bull Pen
£300–£425 / week
About the home
The Old Bull Pen is in the secluded hamlet of North Strome, two miles from the village of Loch Carron. The cottage has an enclosed garden and is on the quiet single track road that only leads to the hamlet of Ardeneaskin.
The old ferry slipway is close by, which is frequently used for fishing, without any anticipation of a large catch. Close to the slipway are the ruins of Strome Castle which offers fantastic views down the loch to Plockton and the Isle of skye.
The area is very central to some of the grandest and wildest mountainous areas of Scotland, and so the location is an excellent centre for walking and hill climbing. There is a small golf course in Loch Carron and fishing, sailing and horse riding can all be done locally.

The Scottish Highlands region

This is central to the stunning and wild mountain regions of Skye and Torridon. The Applecross peninsular is close by with its dramatic Bealach Na Ba road. To the south is Eilean Donan castle and Glen Shiel.
There are both gentle walks through the Glens and forrests as well as many more challenging hills and climbing for the serious walkers and climbers. The cottage is central for a huge range of Munros. The scenic villages of Plockton to the south and Shieldaig to the north are close by.
The panoramic photos are taken from the hill behind the cottage - Bad a'Chremha. Although this hill is only 395 metres high there is no easy path to the top, but the views are superb from there. These photos were taken ona rather dull winters day.
The Lochcarron / North Strome area
The village of Loch Carron has two hotels with restaurants, a bistro and a cafe as well as an excellent grocer, butcher and garage.
