Burnbrae is the ideal base for your holiday in the Highlands – situated in the quiet village of Milton, near Drumnadrochit the cottage is just two miles from Loch Ness and comes fully equipped with everything you will need for your stay. All heating and electricity is included in the rental charge so the cottage is cosy and welcoming no matter what time of the year you visit. Wifi is available for use of our guests.

The supermarket in Drumnadrochit is open from 7am to 10pm daily for all essential groceries but, if you prefer to eat out, there are a number of very good restaurants in the area – details are in the Local Information folder in the cottage.

There is a Medical Practice in the village, as well as a Pharmacy, should you need them and the nearest major hospital is in the city of Inverness (17 miles). Map in Local Information Folder

At any time of the year Burnbrae is perfectly situated for exploring all that the Highlands have to offer. Visit the world famous Urquhart Castle just 3 miles from the cottage or take a boat trip on Loch Ness for some 'monster spotting', see the local area from horseback at one of the trekking centres in the Glen or just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet in the garden where you might be lucky enough to see the resident red squirrels or the roe deer. Day trips to the West Coast and the Isle of Skye or to John O'Groats and the Castle of Mey in the north are possible. Travel to the top of Cairngorm on the mountain railway, see the steam train crossing the viaduct at Glenfinnan (as seen in the Harry Potter movie), watch the dolphins in the Moray Firth, visit castles, gardens, distilleries and battlefields – you won't have time to get bored.

For hill walking and climbing enthusiasts the Affric hills are only 15 miles to the west or, Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Britain is just an hour's drive away. There are more than 30 Munros within easy reach of the cottage. For mountain bike enthusiasts the Great Glen Way offers some wonderful tracks with amazing views and just four miles from Burnbrae you can find an excellent (and challenging) bike track in the forest at Balnain in Glen Urquhart.

Burnbrae is the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life – a great place to relax and mull over the day's adventures with a wee dram or a glass of wine.

The whole area is steeped in history and there are many castles, battlefields, museums and exhibition centres where the visitor can find out about days gone past. Walk parts of the Great Glen Way or climb some of the many Munros which are within easy reach of Burnbrae. Take a trip on the Jacobite steam train, as seen in the Harry Potter films, ride to the top of Cairngorm on the funicular railway to enjoy the views and eat in the restaurant at the summit or watch the dolphins in the Moray Firth. There is so much to do you might have to come back again.

Loch Ness

Just 3 miles from the cottage is the world famous Urquhart Castle where visitors can enjoy spectacular views of Loch Ness and do a bit of 'Monster spotting'. Perhaps seeing the sights from horseback might also appeal to the more adventurous among you - there are two excellent riding centres in the area which offer treks for beginners as well as more experienced riders. Try fishing in one of the many rivers and lochs around the area or even on Loch Ness if you are brave enough!

Walkers and climbers will be spoilt for choice with a wide range of challenges for all levels of ability. Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Britain, is just one hour's drive from Burnbrae and the beautiful Affric hills are just 15 miles to the west.
