At any time of the year Burnbrae is perfectly situated for exploring all that the Highlands have to offer. Visit the world famous Urquhart Castle just 3 miles from the cottage or take a boat trip on Loch Ness for some 'monster spotting', see the local area from horseback at one of the trekking centres in the Glen or just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet in the garden where you might be lucky enough to see the resident red squirrels or the roe deer. Day trips to the West Coast and the Isle of Skye or to John O'Groats and the Castle of Mey in the north are possible. Travel to the top of Cairngorm on the mountain railway, see the steam train crossing the viaduct at Glenfinnan (as seen in the Harry Potter movie), watch the dolphins in the Moray Firth, visit castles, gardens, distilleries and battlefields – you won't have time to get bored.
For hill walking and climbing enthusiasts the Affric hills are only 15 miles to the west or, Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Britain is just an hour's drive away. There are more than 30 Munros within easy reach of the cottage. For mountain bike enthusiasts the Great Glen Way offers some wonderful tracks with amazing views and just four miles from Burnbrae you can find an excellent (and challenging) bike track in the forest at Balnain in Glen Urquhart.
