About the home
The Carriage Lodge is a property we are proud to say is second to none. Originally part of the coach house to the magnificent Arden House and nestling in its estate, a five minute walk will take you to the banks of stunning Loch Lomond.
The Carriage Lodge is the perfect self-catering property for larger groups of family and friends looking to experience a relaxing break in a beautiful location.
The original building was constructed in 1868, but internally the Carriage Lodge offers all the comforts you would expect in contemporary accommodation.
The Carriage Lodge offers a perfect location. Its setting is tranquil and peaceful but it also benefits from easy access to everything the surrounding area has to offer.
The property is accessed by way of a gated archway leading to a pretty courtyard area. Inside four lovely bedrooms can accommodate 8-10 guests in luxurious comfort and the stunning lounge is a perfect place for family and friends to gather after a day exploring the surrounding area. Outside, the large private garden and patio area offer another place to relax and unwind.
The Carriage Lodge is only a 20 minute drive from Glasgow Airport and is 5 minutes from Balloch, where an array of inns and restaurants can be found. The “Cruin” restaurant and bar is within walking distance, as are Duck Bay Marina and the internationally acclaimed Cameron House Hotel and Carrick Golf Resort.

The Central Scotland / Strathclyde / Dunbartonshire region

Argyll, the Isles, Loch Lomond, Stirling and Trossachs
This is the birthplace of Scotland, the cradle of its Christianity and nationhood, and the focal point of much of its dramatic history.
Here you can savour the atmosphere of Hebridean islands, the charm of rural villages and the natural frontier which separates the rugged grandeur of the West Highlands from the gentler beauty of the Lowlands.
Here too, you can trace the footsteps of heroes like St Columba, Sir William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and Mary, Queen of Scots ... and of outlaws like Rob Roy.
These are lands where you can glimpse an eagle, an osprey, a wildcat, a fine antlered stag or even whales and dolphins. And if the fancy takes you, you can enjoy the spectacle of a Highland Games, the warmth of a traditional folk night or the flavour of a local food festival.
Scotland's first great travel writer, Sir Walter Scott, was captivated by the beauty of this fascinating area. In his best-selling poem, 'The Lady of the Lake', he wrote of the landscapes around Loch Katrine:
'From Kintyre to Killin and Tobermory to Tillicoultry, an open invitation awaits you in these heartlands of Scotland.'
The same is as true today as it was in Scott's time.
The Loch Lomond area
Loch Lomond is located in central Scotland and is well positioned for touring around the national park, the west coast and islands, the trossachs to the east, Glasgow (30 mins) and Edinburgh (90 mins) . It presents the perfect holiday location, set amidst one of Scotland's ”most idyllic and unspoilt areas, with the largest” expanse of fresh water in Britain and the backdrop of the mountains looming beyond.
It is also ideally situated for touring within Scotland with The Highlands to the north of the Loch, the West Coast and Islands a short drive away and Central Scotland, Glasgow and Edinburgh to the east.

The Lodge was a great treat to stay in. Although there are other properties nearby, the Lodge is very private, with an extensive garden and very spacious, modern rooms. We stayed with a group of friends who all enjoyed the setting as well as the welcome pack goodies! The owners truly spoil you - all the basic food cupboard stuff is there, as well as some luxuries.... I won't spoil it! Thank you once again. |

We celebrated my husband's 60th Birthday at the Carriage Lodge with a group of friends. It is a beautiful house and the ideal property for a celebration. Thank you! The Stevensons, Dumfries and Galloway.
