The Central Scotland/Strathclyde region

This region has a contrasting landscape of lochs, mountains, forests and coastline and it's therefore no coincidence that it's one of the most popular holiday destinations in Scotland. Its popularity is easy to understand when you consider the mouth watering attractions within its boundaries; which include the beautiful Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park in the west and the wonderful forests, mountains and rivers which are characteristic of Tayside and Perthshire to the east. The city of Stirling can also be found in this area, with its rich historical significance in Scottish history and connections to William Wallace and Robert the Bruce. The beautiful and unique coastlines here, both on the west coast and east coast, are ideal holiday destinations. Stretching in the west from Oban in the north down to Strathclyde and the Ayr coast, and in the east the coast extends from Dundee and Angus south the along the Fife coast to Edinburgh.

Loch Lomond National Park

The surrounding area of Stirlingshire has some of the most stunning landscapes of all Scottish regions. There are also an abundance of activities and attractions on offer, from walking along Loch Lomond to Rob Roy's Cave – ideal for adventuring with children of a younger age – to taking a trip to The National Wallace Monument and learning of the Wars of Scottish Independence. The small city of Stirling lies just 7 miles away and is full of restaurants and bars, with a wide range of shopping for those who like to spend. From here, Stirling Castle makes for a visit steeped in history and with its interiors fully restored you're given a real insight into how the site would have looked hundreds of years ago, with plots and high fashions uncovered along the way.
