For larger groups,up to 14 guests the whole steading is available as a single let at a discounted price to the three individual properties. Details of The Barn,sleeps 6 and Menteith and Blane Cottages , both sleeping 4 can be found elsewhere on this site. Each unit has its own luxury kitchen, dining area and leather sofa'd lounge area so there is plenty of space for quiet moments whilst still being part of a group.
Each unit has its own satelite TV and wifi and broadband is available at no charge
We are close to Loch Lomond National Park, The West Highland Way, Queen Elizabeth Forest and many other tourist attractions.
The owners are also alpaca breeders and they have a growing herd of about 40. Alpacas are bred for their fine fleece which can be superior to cashmere and guests are welcome to join in with alpaca activities during their stay.

Fishing March - October . We have our own fishing rights on the River Endrick. However this is a spate river and the best fishing is in September and October.
Tennis - Killearn has three all weather courts where visitors are welcome. There is an
honesty box for £1 per person per session.
Cycling - We are close to the wonderful cycling tracks near Loch Lomond and the Trossachs.
Walking - The West Highland Way is only two miles away and The Queen Elizabeth Forest is 15 mins by car.
Pubs and Restaurants – There is good eating all around the area. Close at hand in Killearn there is the Old Mill and the Black Bull. In Balfron there is an Indian restaurant called Saffron ( will deliver as well) and the Pirn Inn. Going further afield there is an excellent restaurant in Kippen called The Inn in Kippen and Culcreich Castle in Fintry is worth a visit.
Local Shopping – There are two wonderful delicatessens one in Balfron and the other in Kippen. In Killearn there is a Spar and a Co-op where you can get all essentials. The area is also renowned for its excellent home made steak pies you can get at the local butchers in Killearn, Balfron and Kippen.

The location is spectacular with views of the Campsie Fells and the farm is bounded to the South by the River Endrick. Ballochruin Farm is close to the villages of Killearn and Balfron and within 2 miles of the Loch Lomond National Park and the West Highland Way. The farm is in a very rural and quiet setting but is accessible to all major cities in Central Scotland. Stirling 30mins, Glasgow 40 mins, Perth and Edinburgh 60 mins.
In 2011 art4you Scotland has moved with their studio into our converted byre. art4you offeres various art classes, art weekends and art holiday weeks. For more information contact artist and art lecturer Ewen Duncan.
At Campsie Cottages we also focuses on our exceptional alpaca herd. We breed from some of the best bloodlines in the UK and this results in a very high standard of animal.

Art Weekends and Art Holidays
Book one of the popular art courses welcoming all levels and age groups. art4you Scotland moved in 2011 with their studio into our converted Byre. Be inspired by the beautiful country side of Scotland and enjoy your holidays in a relaxed and creative atmosphere. The surrounding landscape at Ballochruin Farm and the nearby river offer a lot of scope for wonderful outdoor & indoor painting and drawings.
Other Activities
Cycling - We are close to the wonderful cycling tracks near Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. They offer an excellent variety of cycle routes for everyone; from flat tarmac routes or wide forest tracks for families, to hard-core trails and challenging terrain.
Walking – The West Highland Way is only two miles away and The Queen Elizabeth Forest and Argyll Forest Park are 15 mins by car. They are fantastic outdoor resources and providing free access to beautiful, natural spaces all year round. Whether it's enjoying a gentle country stroll through woodland or a breezy coastal walk, trekking long distance routes or scrambling amidst the majestic mountains everything is in close reach.
Wildlife Watching - The woods, mountains, lochs and coasts of the near Lomond & The Trossachs National Park are rich in wildlife. Throughout the year National Park Rangers organise and support a wide range of activities and events exploring the fascinating wildlife of the Park - for more details see the Loch Lomand & Trossachs events calendar.
Golfing - Balfron Golf Society runs an 18 hole course situated 2 miles from our selfcatering accommodation and B&B. Visitors are welcome. The last tee off time during the week is 4 p.m. Visiting groups at weekends cannot play before 2pm. Please consult the fixture list to check tee bookings and competition days when there will be other restrictions. Swimming - There is a local 25 m Swimming Pool in Balfron located at the Balfron High School open to public at various times (Balfron High School 01360 440469)

From the nearest information centre:- From Stirling follow the A811 towards the Erskine Bridge until T junction with A81 - turn left and follow for approx half a mile under a bridge - slow down and take a sharp left signposted Balfron. Follow road around a corner and in about 400 yards take sharp right hand turn and follow road down towards the Endrick Water. Ballochruin Farm house is on the left with a flag pole and Scottish flag flying!
Getting there by railway:- From Glasgow it is possible to get a a No 10 bus from Buchanan Street Station that will take you to Killearn. From there we can pick you up.
Getting there by aeroplane:-
From Glasgow Airport/ Prestwick Airport you could catch a bus to Buchanan Street Bus Sation and then to Killearn or hire a car. Edinburgh Airport is only an hour away by car.
The nearest village is Killearn and travelling eastwards out of the village towards Balfron in approximately one mile there is a crossroad. Turn Left sign posted Balfron Station. Cross the bridge on the Endrick Water and in 400 yards Ballochruin Farm house is on the right with a flag pole and Scottish flag flying.
