BookThe Central Scotland / Strathclyde / Stirling County region
Glenvarloch is in Perthshire, with the local council being Stirling County. The property is overlooked by An Sheaan part of the Ben Sheaan peak and is located in a glacial valley now mostly wooded. The 'Munro's of Stuc o'Chroin, Ben Ledi, Ben Vane and Ben Vorlich are all within easy distance of Glenvarloch.
There are several cycle trails nearby other than the C7 which takes you directly from the house to either Killin to the North over the Glen Ogle viaduct, or to Callander and Aberfoyle to the South and South West.
The area is steeped in ancient history with the City of Stirling being the site of the battle for Stirling Bridge made famous by Mel Gibson in 'Braveheart' and the new Pixar movie 'Brave'. The magnificent Stirling Castle and William Wallace monument are located within 25 miles.
Numerous local walks and cycle trails are available almost from the doorstep, and with the property being 'pet friendly' there should be no reason why
The Cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow are within easy reach less than 1.5 hours by car.
The climate in Strathyre is unique - it being part of a North/South glen which can channel the weather in Winter, and yet protect from the worst of the Westerly winds at other times. It is best to be prepared for all 4 seasons - there being no such thing as bad weather - just inappropriate clothing !
The Loch Lomond National Park / Strathyre area
Within 300 metres of Glenvarloch is a part completed 'Broch' - an ancient dwelling house. The property is within strolling distance of Loch Lubnaig and a short drive brings you to the Falls of Leny, Bracklinn Falls and Callander. The spectacular Falls of Dochart at Killin to the north also feed off the sometimes inclement weather - so any rain has a positive effect ! Fishing is available in the nearby Balvaig River (permit from the local shop) and at numerous locations nearby. There are a number of excellent Golf courses nearby including St. Fillans, Comrie, Callander and Gleneagles is only 52 km away
The village of Strathyre has an Inn and a Restaurant, with the nearest 'The Inn at Strathyre' being less than 200m away.
Skiing at Glencoe Ski Resort barely 60 minutes away on priority cleared 'A' road.

Awesome place to stay, very central and we wished we had booked to stay longer as there was so much to see and do. The lodge was very clean, well equipped and very comfortable. There was plenty of space for all of us to sit together or places to disappear to with a good book and some peace and quiet. Lovely area for walks, wild life and a good base for visiting the Lochs etc. Oban/Fort William were just over an hour away and worth the drive for the fantastic scenery. The owners supplied lots of information and links to websites which were very useful. We would certainly book again when we next come up to Scotland. Wifi would have been useful but we managed without. One of the best places we have stayed. |

We stayed here as a party of 5 adults, 2 children and a dog over Easter. This property is exceptional, it is really well furnished, spacious, spotlessly clean and the owners have thought of... more Response: Many thanks for your comprehensive review. It's always good to hear feedback, and to know we are doing something right. Try the Creagan Inn or Mhor 84 next time you're up this way for... more |

This is beautiful property which was always warm and welcoming when we returned from exploring the surrounding areas. The drive to the cottage is lovely, and the lochs further out the road were stunning. We all loved living on the edge of the forest and nobody wanted to return home. |
