Quiet and peaceful, with breathtaking scenery on your doorstep, we are sure you will love it just as much as we do.

The cottage is beautifully appointed, with oak furniture and fittings, and equipped with everything you will need on your self catering holiday.

Upstairs is the kitchen with duel fuel cooker, microwave oven, fridge and freezer and a range of pots and pans . The oak table easily seats 4, plus a highchair, perfect for dining with family and friends.

On sunny days, why not relax on the outside decking area or try a game of quoits on the lawn.

The Central Scotland/Strathclyde region

Callander is a small town within the region of Stirling, Loch Lomand and the Trossachs. Known as 'Gateway to the Highlands' it has all the benefits of Highland charm, hills and countryside, all within 14 miles of the bustling City of Stirling. Being in Central Scotland, Callander is an ideal base to explore further afield.

From Bousd holiday cottage, take a half hour journery by bus or car to the historic city of Stirling along the A84. Visit Stirling Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots was crowned, learn the story of William Wallace at The National Wallace Monument or relive the medieval battle between Robert The Bruce and Edward II at the Battle of Bannockburn Centre.

On route to Stirling, you can stop off at Scottish Antiques Centre, Doune Castle, Deanston Distillery and Dunblane Cathedral.

Children may prefer to visit Briarlands Farm or Blairdrummond Safari Park

And with the M9 motorway at your disposal, you may decide to take a trip to Perth, Dundee, Edinburgh or Glasgow (approximately one hour from Callander, half an hour from Stirling).

For more leisurely day out, the A821 from Callander reveals spectacular scenery on a route known as 'The Duke's Pass', taking in Aberfoyle, Loch Venacher, Loch Achray, Loch Katrine and the Lake of Menteith. Take a boat ride on Loch Katrine on the Sir Walter Scott steamship, named after the poet of 'Lady Of The Lake', or visit Inchmahome Priory, an Augustinian Monastery from 1238, set in the middle of the Lake of Menteith. With 22 lochs in the Trossachs area, it is easy to see why fishing, canoeing and photography are popular here.

This same route also takes in The Lade Inn pub and Real Ale Shop, the Woollen Mill, home to Hamish the Highland Cow and the David Marshall Lodge, part of the Queen Elizabeth Forest. Here there are walks and wildlife viewing, including Ospey Observation. For Bravehearts, there are forest and tree top adventures with 400m long zip wires at Go Ape!

Nearby Castle Rednock, just 10 minutes drive from Callander, also has pony trekking, quad pods, orienteering and shetland pony driving.

The A84 heading North from Callander offers spectacular views of Ben Ledi. Not quite a Munro at 2,800 feet, it is still a challange. Hillwalkers can also enjoy Ben A'an, Ben Venue, Ben Vorlich and Ben Lomond in the local area. For bigger hills, keep heading North through Lochearnhead and Tyndrum to the spectacular Glencoe with truly breathtaking scenery. A liitle further still to Fort Willam and Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles.

If golf is your sport, try Callander golf course or one of many others from Dunblane, Stirling, Bridge of Allan, to name just a few. Gleneagles is only half an hour's drive on the M9 or visit the home of golf, St Andrews; a beautiful seaside town and a scenic journey of 90 minutes.

Or to really feel a part of the great outdoors, join the C7 cycle route, with cycle paths that take in lochs and woodland and wildlife. A great way to really explore your holiday destination..

Whether you are looking for a holiday at a leisurely pace, or something more action packed, Callander and it's surrounding area can offer something to everyone.

Loch Lomond National Park

Callander is a small town in the region of Stirling, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, situated on the River Teith. Quiet and picturesque, it is the perfect place to unwind and relax amidst breathtaking scenery.

Ben Ledi looms overhead, reminding you that this is the Gateway to the Highlands.

The main street features tea shops, craft and souvenir shops, 2 supermarkets, butchers shop, pubs, restaurants, take aways, clothes shops, art gallery, Toy Museum and much more. The next village, Kilmahog, just 5-10 minutes walk away, finds The Lade Inn pub and restaurant, a haven for music lovers and those who enjoy a Scottish Beer with the Real Ale shop.

Depending on when you visit, you can join in local festivities, such as the Callander Jazz and Blues Festival or the Callander Highland Games.

Walkers can tackle Ben Ledi, our own Ben measuring 2,800 feet, or try something gentler like the Woods Walks, Callander Meadows, The Crags or Bracklinn Falls.

Callander golf club, rated in the Top 10 in Scotland, welcomes visitors, or purchase a fishing permit and while away a few hours fishing by Loch Leny.

Callander also sits on the C7 cycle route, with designated cycle paths. If you don't have your own own bike, you can hire one locally.

And bring your camera and binoculars! Wildlife is abundant with red deer and red squirrels in the area. We also have Hamish, our resident Highland Cow, at the Trossachs Woollen Mill in Kilmahog.

For those rainier days, step back in to your childhood with the Hamilton Toy Museum, or visit McLaren Leisure Centre with a swimming pool, climbing wall, sauna and spa.

Callander really does offer the remoteness and feel of a getaway holiday, with the on hand facilities of a resort and a big, warm, friendly welcome.

"A wonderful, well equipped, comfortable holiday cottage. Ideal for us."

We have stayed in several different holiday cottages and we have never stayed anywhere as well equipped as Bousd. The best place we've ever stayed. Joanne and George have put a huge amount of effort into providing a wonderful holiday rental. Everything you could imagine needing during your stay was provided, even down to the small things you often forget when you go self-catering. They thoughtfully left local beers, milk, butter and eggs from their own hens. The cottage is very clean and well presented. Everything provided is of a very high standard. We really appreciated the local touch with the DVD's. We had previously seen Angel's Share but it was great to watch it again after we visited Deanston Distillery. A great cottage in a beautiful place in the world. Thank you for all your hard work and effort Joanne and George. We had a wonderful stay.

"Family friendly holiday"

Bousd is a modern, immaculate holiday let. Lots of lovely touches left by the owners: local beer, fresh eggs (from their own hens), board games/toys/DVDs. An additional attraction for our children was being allowed to feed the owners chickens and pigs. The owners are very friendly and nothing seemed like too much trouble.

Locally there is plenty to do with young children. Both Blair Drummond Safari Park and the local farm park are a short drive. Within walking distance from Bousd is a nice park and duck pond. There is also a good swimming pool and soft play ( for young children) in the local leisure centre in Callandar.

We would thoroughly recommend a stay at Bousd.

Thank you to all our guests who have taken the time to review Bousd holiday cottage. As we only opened earlier this year and are new to this it is particularly important to learn from your comments and we are thrilled that you had a lovely holiday and would recommend us to others.
Thank you all again.
George and Joanne

"Very clean and well equipped cottage with wonderful scenery, and perfectly located to explore Scotland"

The cottage is spotless, modern and boasts great views of Ben Ledi, and is the perfect place to unwind. The owners have thoughtfully decked out the cottage with everything you could need. If you do find anything missing (which we couldn't,!) or need any advice, the owners are incredibly helpful. Although there were only two of use staying, the cottage would easily accommodate a family of four. It is just a 10-minute walk into Callender where there are pubs, restaurants, fish and chip shops, bakeries, gift shops and more. As well as being a great location from which to explore The Trossachs National Park, Dunblane and Stirling Castle, it is ideally situated for those who want to travel to Glasgow and Edinburgh.
