Taigh-Beann is a self catering cottage located in the village of Tarbet on the shores of Loch Lomond at the heart of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. It makes a perfect base for exploring the surrounding countryside including Argyll and the Cowal Peninsula. Glen Coe is less than an hour's drive away, and trips to Inveraray, Dunoon Oban and Fort William can easily be made from the house. Glasgow is approx 1hr and Edinburgh 2hrs.

Hill and forest walking, climbing, cycling, water sports, fishing and golf are all readily accessible and the Arrochar Alps are only 5 minutes drive from the house. Boat excursions on Loch Lomond leave Tarbet pier at regular intervals and these allow you to experience the loch and explore Rowardennan and Inversnaid on the east shore. There is a recently opened 17 mile cycle track along the western shores of the loch to Balloch.

The house has been recently refurbished with a new fully fitted kitchen and utility room and the remaining accommodation is very comfortable with views of Ben Lomond and the surrounding mountains.

The Central Scotland/Strathclyde region

Tarbet lies at the intersection of the A82 which is the main access road north to the west highlands and the A83 leading to Argyll and Bute peninsula.

The highland fault line crosses Loch Lomond to the south of Tarbet which can be regarded as the western gateway to the highlands.

Loch Lomond which was formed during the last ice age is the largest freshwater loch in Scotland and at Tarbet is more than 700 feet deep.

The Arrochar Alps are regarded as some of the most popular climbing in Scotland and Ben Arthur (the Cobbler) is particularly renowned for its distinctive summit.

Loch Lomond National Park

The immediate area lies within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.

The area is popular with walkers for both hill and forest walks and watersports and fishing are catered for on the loch itself. In addition there are a number of golf courses in the vicinity and numerous mountain peaks for more serious climbers.

Loch Fyne, a sea loch lies within half an hour's drive and at Inverary you can visit the castle which is the family home of the Campbells of Argyll.
