The North Wales region
Eryri or the Snowdonia National Park was designated a National park in 1951, the third National Park to be created in England and Wales under the 1949 National Parks and Access to the countryside Act. It is the second largest National park in England and Wales, covering some 2,171 square kilometres (838 square miles) of north west Wales, and including the Carneddau, and Glyderau mountain ranges as well as the Highest mountain in England and Wales (1085m/3560ft)- Yr Wyddfa (the Tomb in Welsh), or Snowdon from which the Park takes its (English) name. The Welsh name Eryri means 'place of the eagles'.
Llwyngwril is a pretty, uncommercialised village resting on the shores of Cardigan Bay in Southern Snowdonia National Park with easy access to Cader Idris, the nearest mountain of nearly 3,000 ft.
The village offers two well stocked local stores, pub and cafe (serving breakfast, lunch and evening meals by arrangement). There is also a post office . The beach is only a 900 yard walk from Pentre Bach and has a pebble ridge with sand between the rock pools when the tide goes out. Buckets, spades, fishing nets available to borrow.

traditional welsh cottage with inglenook open fire place that we lit because we don't have one at home. The cottage was well equipped and the towels were so thick and soft. The beds were comfy an… More
Thank you for your lovely review. Yes, Y Popty is certainly cosy. It's great to come back to a log fire , especially after a bracing walk on the fells or a along the beach.

Popty is a lovely cottage. Warm and comfy with traditional and pleasant decor. Decent kitchen, hot shower, comfy beds and a lovely living room with a fire, including the original fire used when it was once a bakery.
Located with stunning open sea views.
We were staying with extended family (18 people in all) and we opened the door to adjoin Popty to the larger house.
We stayed during a blustery weekend in November, but the welsh weather added to the whole experience. You cant beat a walk in rural Wales followed by warming up in cosy Popty.
Table tennis set up in the barn was an added bonus - also the great selection of board games that kept us from going to bed at night!
Thank you very much for your lovely description of Y Popty. It certainly is a cosy cottage and is ideal when linked with the main house, to accommodate larger groups like yours. We do hope we'll be able to welcome you back to Y Popty sometime in the future.

"Very relaxing stay"
The Bakehouse is set in a small village and is situated cul dec sec away from the main road which was very quiet and nice. The house has a common garden with stunning sea view (it is only 5 min walking distance from the beach). The garden extends further to a huge paddock which was perfect for our dog to play a ball fetching game.
The cottage itself is very comfortable to stay and is well equipped. Kitchen and bathroom are modern and easy to use. The heating came on automatically in the morning and evening which kept the cottage nice and warm. We also had wood fire in the lounge for early evenings which was very nice to have.
The cottage was very clean and towels and bed linens were also spotless. The cottage also has a common area with a table tennis which was quite fun.
If you are looking for a walking holiday in a beautiful setting, the location is perfect for it. The owners were friendly and made us feel welcomed. We would definitely recommend this cottage.
The only area of improvement is that the TV could be a little bigger as it is quite small for the size of the lounge. However, I guess you are not supposed to be spending too much time watching TV! :)
Thank you very much for your complimentary comments. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay in Y Popty and hope to welcome you back sometime in the future.
We'll bear in mind your comments about the size of the television but don't like to have televisions that take up too much room or overwhelm the space.

"Y-Popty Cottage. Very Cosy and in a lovely location."
Although we chose the worst British summer for many years for this holiday we all had a thoroughly great time. Y Popty is a smaller cottage attached to the main house at Pentre Bach but it was just perfect for our family of 2 adults and 3 young children. All three bedrooms are a good size - two having double beds and the third one with bunk beds which our two youngest boys shared. Downstairs is really very cosy without ever feeling cramped for space. and the recently fitted new kitchen was very smart. Outside the kids were able to play on a nice safe field just beyond the main property's garden and the views of the sea from here are lovely. We had everything we needed at Y Popty and proprietors were very helpful with local info & recommendations of things to see & do. All in all a really enjoyable holiday and would definitely consider returning to this cottage.
Thank you for your kind comments. We're so glad you enjoyed your holiday in Y Popty , despite the weather, and hope that we'll be able to welcome you back to one of our cottages again in the future.

"A Welsh Gem"
The pictures do not do this cottage justice, on arrival we were stunned by the location and the views from the garden of the sea. The owners were extremely friendly and always on hand providing great tips on places to visit with lots of information already in the cottage. We were with four adults, two children and a baby and the size of this cottage was perfect. With young children this is a great place, even when the weather is not so good there are still plenty of things to do in the area. This cottage can also be rented with a fantastic period property for larger groups which is adjoining. We will definitely be returning.
Thank you very much for your complimentary comments Nikki. We do our best to make sure every guest is welcome and try to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We're always striving to improve the environment , comfort and appearance of each cottage and are happy when guests appreciate what we do. We hope we'll be able to welcome you back to Y Popty or the main house again in the future.
