"Lovely cottage in lovely Llwyngwril"
We have just returned from a weeks stay at Bodlondeb cottage. It's a lovely cottage for a couple, with a great layout over 3 floors. The weather was amazing and so we fully utilised the terrace and BBQ during the evenings, with no need to light the chimenea. The shop on the other side of the bridge, stocked Welsh charcoal which was helpful and a nice local touch. The river gushing on by the terrace was idyllic and relaxing, if you didn't know you might not realise how close you are to the sea!
A previous reviewer mentions the cottages proximity to the main road. This is true, but the vehicles have to go down to very slow single lane traffic through this part of the village, and with the rush of the river at the back of the cottage there is certainly no noise pollution from the vehicles on the road. It is by no means a busy 'A' road.
The train station is close by and we would recommend visitors use this service. Whilst the train can run a little late as it is a single line track for a lot of journeys, it is a cost effective and more direct way of getting about the coast. The local free car park in Llywngwril is close by and the car was perfectly safe there. It's the first holiday we have had in the UK where we have been able to do very little driving and get about as we did.
We should also mention that we used the local bus towards Dolgellau, that was extremely timely and we would also recommend the service - from outside the children's play area. We got on with a lady from the village who was really friendly, taught us how to pronounce Llwyngwril and made sure that we got off at the right stop for our walk up the Mawdacch estuary. Everybody we came across on this coastline were friendly and welcoming.
The cottage has all the facilities needed for a week away, and as we were there during the Olympics the big TV in the living room was a bonus at times. The cottage has been restored to a high standard but retains that unique quaint feel that we were hoping for. Indeed it was a delight to return every evening.
We plan to visit again and were sad to leave.
Thanks so much for your lovely comments. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay.

"Good facilities, good value."
We stayed at Bodlondeb for a week in June. We found it a great place to stay- with 3 floors it had a lot more space than most 2 person properties we have stayed in. The cottage was clean, quiet and pleasant and had everything we needed. The station for the coastal train line is a short walk away and there is a pub and newsagent/shop close by too.
There was lots of useful information in the cottage about things to do/see such as Harlech castle, the Talyllyn railway and the Ynis-hir RSPB reserve as well as an emergency box of games, DVDs etc for wet weather days (which we never used).

"A Superb, Relaxing Holiday at Bodlondeb"
My husband and I stayed for a 5 day break at this beautiful cottage. We were very surprised to read the last review...the road works were still there when we arrived but it didn't disrupt our stay in the slightest and we thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on the patio! The cottage has been beautifully refurbished was immaculately clean, modern furnishings with a big comfy bed and is equiped with everything you could need for a relaxing stay. We would highly recommend Bodlondeb and will be back.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our cottage we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Since the first terrible review was received we have started to contact previous guests to try and give a more 'balanced' view of our cottage. Unfortunately many of our lovely guests do not have a face book account or do not want to sign up for trip advisor. These are the only options for uploading a review which is very disappointing and limiting. It worth checking the other reviews posted by the guests who wrote the terrible review. They disagree most of the time with the general opinion of the service or facility they are reviewing.

"Could do better"

We are so very disappointed to read our first trip advisor review. We have had more than 100 guests stay at Bodlondeb and our guest book is packed with only wonderful comments, which you will see! This year 4 of our bookings are from guests who stayed last year.
The road works were not outside the cottage front door but some way up a nearby side road and they were not allowed to work for the very long hours described - they were strictly regulated by the local water board and gone by 4pm. We did not advise as they did not affect us directly. We did refund 2 nights (despite the fact that the road works only affected one of the days booked as it was over the weekend) as the satisfaction of our guests is always our priority.
The cottage is decorated every season so it is fresh. The pictures speak for themselves.
We advise that there is no internet access - this is a sleepy Welsh village.
The mattress was brand new last August - it is high quality and very comfortable and not lumpy.
The stone steps are the orginal 18th century slate stairs.
The caretaker had not left a toilet roll and this was a highly irregular oversight but the guests were in touch with us and we advised them to help themselves from the cupboard - which they did!
The cottage is quirky and full of character and charm. It obviously did not suit these guests. It is such a shame we cannot review the state the cottage was left in after their stay.
