Visitors can benefit from the inspiring beauty and tranquillity of Mallorca.. A drive from one side of the island to the other can take less than two hours, but in that time the visitor can stop to gaze out towards Africa from awe inspiring rugged cliff tops, cross the spectacular Tramuntana mountain range, or leave the car to hike to pristine sandy beaches only accessible by foot.

The Mallorca/Majorca region
Many people know that Mallorca is the most popular tourist destination in Europe, and is arguably one of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean, largely because of the stunning variety of its scenery, the warm hospitality of the islanders and the richness of its food and drink. There are two main resorts for people who are looking for only sun, sand and nightclubs, and then there is the rest of the island -so carefully protected against over-development by the proud Mallorcans that stars like Michael Douglas and Claudia Schiffer choose to holiday here.
Llucmajor area
Just 10 to 15 minutes drive to the centre of Palma, with everything this historic city has to offer.
Above the Old Harbor rises the cathedral (La Seo), a massive sandstone structure begun about 1230 in Early Gothic style but not completed until the 16th and 17th centuries, with three doorways, a beautiful south front (14th century), two 19th century towers and a bell-tower of 1270. From the terrace on the south side of the cathedral there is a magnificent view of the bay.
Palma itself could fulfill many holiday requirements, history and art, shopping, restaurants and night life.
For golfers, again Mallorca has many highly rated golf courses and particularly handy is the Marriott Son Antem golf complex and spa just five minutes drive from the farm.
Mallorca is well know for it’s stunning beaches. The following are all within easy access from the farm
Arenal is the nearest. Go back to the roundabout which accesses the Via Centura (main road) & take the 2nd exit. The road runs parallel to the Via Centura. Follow directions to Arenal
Sa Rapita. Travel on the main road in the direction of Santanyi & exit at junction 23. Follow the road towards the coast. There’s a great restaurant at the Marina (bit pricier) & a great beach.
Es Trenc. The other end of the beach at Sa Rapita. There’s more parking here, although the car park is a bit of a hike to the beach. Follow the main road in direction of Santanyi & follow signposts to Es Trenc.
Cala Figuera. A lovely fishing village on the East coast. Head towards Santanyi & you’ll soon see signs for Cala Figuera. There’s a beach before you get here called Sa Salines but we’ve not tried it yet!
Mallorca has so much to offer and there have been many books written about the island, from historic market towns, to stunning beaches and idyllic fishing villages, mountain walking, fine dining, all can be explored from Casa Fortuna, with excellent access returning to a very private place.
How to get there
Casa Fortuna to the east of Palma is ideally located as a base to explore all that Mallorca has to offer. Just ten minutes drive from Palma Airport, serviced by five “low-cost” airlines with flight times from the UK of two to two and a half hours, the farm can provide the ideal “get away location”.
