It is ideal for families looking for a peaceful holiday location and yet still be within an easy drive of the coast, Valencia city centre and the airport.
The nearest main town is Lliria (10 mins by car) although the pretty village of Marines is within walking distance and offers basic facilities such as bank, bakers, general store and several typical bars. It is however essential that you hire a car for a stay at this property to fully appreciate the surrounding countryside and amenities.

VALENCIA Valencia is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city on the Mediterranean coast. It is Spain’s 3rd largest city, surrounded by orange orchards and sandy beaches. The city enjoys year round sunshine, which along with the Mediterranean character of the people, the cuisine, the wealth of historical culture, exceptional geographical location, and not to be forgotten famous nightlife, makes this an ideal choice of holiday destination.
FIESTAS Every town has its own annual fiestas, and no matter what time of year you visit you are bound to stumble upon one. Lliria and Marines have their fair share of these and I would highly recommend watching one if you get the chance. Two of the most famous fiestas are La Tomatina and Las Fallas.
Tomatina - This takes place in the nearby town of Buñol. It is a tomato fight festival which takes place each year towards the end of August. Tens of thousands of participants come from all over the world to fight in a battle where more than 100 tonnes of tomatoes are thrown in the streets. The week long festival features music, parades, fireworks and dancing.
Las Fallas - This is undoubtedly one of the most unique festivals in Spain and is a week long fiesta that takes place annually in March. What started as a feast day for St. Joseph, the patron saint of carpenters, has evolved into a 5-day, multifaceted celebration of fire. The main focus is the creation and destruction of Niñots – huge statues that are placed at over 350 points in the city and in each surrounding town, including Lliria. The niñots remain in place until midnight on the 19th, when La Cremà takes place. At the stroke of midnight the niñots are set on fire to the chants of the crowds and a spectacular firework display begins.
There are a number of other activities that take place during the week building up to La Cremà. Check out one of the many bullfights or there are parades and paella contests all around the city. Firework displays occur everywhere and another highlight is the daily Mascletà which takes place at 2.00 in the Plaza Ayuntamiento when a huge pile of firecrackers are ignited and the ground literally shakes for the next 10 minutes.
SPORTS For sports fans, Valencia has some of the best sporting venues in Europe with everything from the world famous football team, championship golf courses and incredible watersports venues. El Saler Golf Club was voted the 29th best golf course in the world but there are many other equally challenging and picturesque courses in the area, including El Bosque, Oliva Nove Golf Course, L'Escorpion and Villamartin.
Lliria / Marines area
The villa is only 10 minutes walk away from the pretty village of Marines, which boasts a number of shops, bars, banks, park and a small Saturday market.
A 10 minute drive will bring you to the bustling town of Lliria, an ancient traditional Spanish town known as the ‘Town of Music’, with all the amenities you would expect, such as bars, restaurants, shops, market etc. The town is located some 20 kms northwest of the City of Valencia, near the Mediterranean coast and is well served by both road and by Metro.

Further details indoors: Accommodation is on one floor and is accessed from either the back door which leads directly into the kitchen or through the front door into the hall area. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, microwave, gas hob with electric oven and there is also a small table and 4 chairs. The large lounge/dining room looks onto the pool and terrace area and both provide plenty of dining options for either indoor or outdoor ‘al fresco’ dining. There is a wood burner for those colder months and more importantly an Air Conditioning unit for those hot summer days.
All the bedrooms and bathrooms are accessed from the corridor and consist of two double bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a king size bed and built-in wardrobes.
Two large twin bedrooms with 2 single beds and built-in wardrobes with the option of a third single bed in one of these rooms. Both bathrooms are fully tiled and equipped with toilet, hand basin, bidet, bath/shower.
All bedrooms are fitted with ceiling fans, apart from one twin room which has a stand-alone fan.The garage is accessed at the end of the corridor and contains a second large fridge with freezer and houses all the outdoor terrace and sunbathing furniture.
Further details outdoors: The large, modern and private pool is located at the side of the house and has a patio/sunbathing area. The paellero is also located here which is best described as an outdoor house containing a wood fired hearth – the traditional way for making paella. It also contains a sink and washing machine.
The pool is overlooked by a large terrace perfect for dining and relaxing. There is another terrace and patio area located outside the front door which looks onto the tennis court. Behind the tennis court is an orchard with various fruit trees.
Parking facilities are located in the lane directly outside the house with an option to park inside the gated garden also.
The villa is situated in a quiet, rural area with beautiful views and is only a stones throw from everything you could want. A short drive or pleasant 10 minute walk through the orange groves brings you to Marines and the nearest shops. Valencia has something for everyone including the City of Arts and Sciences featuring the very popular Oceanografico (aquarium), Formula 1 and the Americas Cup and of course the Moto GP at Cheste.

26/08/09 Would you please convey to the owners how much we enjoyed our holiday at their villa just a pity we could'nt play a little more tennis because of the heat but everything was really good and we could'nt fault anthing also we appreciated your help whenever we needed it.
