Hill House is a large and distinctive Victorian villa overlooking the picturesque seaside village of Llansteffan in a magical part of the coast of West Wales. Hill House provides a quiet, picturesque and revitalising space for restful holiday.Hill House overlooks the beautiful Towy estuary, where miles of sandy beaches, quiet woodland walks, and even a ruined Norman castle are within walking distance. There is broadband internet access, but in the interests of peace and quiet, Hill House is a television and radio free environment... ideal for a real restful holiday break. The Bay View apartment is a large room on the first floor, and has a high ceiling and a window seat in the large bay window. There are comfortable chairs from which to admire the view of the village, beaches and castle. There is a shower room/toilet and also a kitchenette for self catering. The room contains a king size bed.It is simply furnished with natural and comfortable wooden furniture and decorated using natural paints and varnishes. Non-toxic cleaning products are used throughout. This means that we cannot bleach out old carpet stains e.t.c but we do provide a clean and healthy environment. We have our own wonderful healthy spring water which is regularly tested. We even have holistic therapists, if you require to partake in an optional healing experience during your stay. The garden is organic and wild and we are proud of the abundant wildlife in our midst.

The House is positioned on the side of a steep hill and would be difficult for the unfit/infirm to walk up easily.

Carmarthenshire region

Llansteffan is a quaint village on the coast of Carmarthenshire, in south-west Wales. It lies on the western side of the River Towy estuary, some seven miles south of the county town of Carmarthen and opposite the village of Ferryside.

Llansteffan is one of those rare but fast disappearing Welsh villages that remain in your memory for ever... one of the best kept secrets in the U.K. It might be for quiet walks taking in the breathtaking beauty of our headlands and the variety of our wildlife and the pristine sands beneath the castle perhaps, or maybe just a general “chilling out” in the convivial village atmosphere.

Nearby is Dylan Thomas birthplace.

Llansteffan

The climate is unlike the rest of Wales, being located in the sunshine coastal belt, it is more like Cornwall.

Llansteffan Castle is an impressive, dramatically sited stronghold sitting on a hilltop overlooking the estuary of the River Tywi. Long before its construction an Iron Age hill fort of the 6th century B.C. occupied the site, its double ditch can still be seen on the west of the castle.

For generations of South and West Walian Welsh school children and chapel-goers the name Llansteffan will always conjure up golden memories of Sunday School Trips to the Seaside, and fun and games on the beach. Llansteffan (together with Porthcawl and Tenby) was one

of these special locations.

Llansteffan may have been one of Wales' best kept secrets for the majority of visitors to Wales, but one group of regular wanderers have known of it's charms for generations – the keen walkers and ramblers in our midst. Nestled in this gorgeous corner of south west Wales is a walkers' paradise. Llansteffan has earned itself a well deserved reputation over the years for being a hot spot for bass and flounder fishing. Every year bass to 12lb and flounder to 2-3 lb are caught from the village at all states of the tide.
