Old Chapel Farm orange Yurt
from £36 /night help
Availability Your dates are available
Yurt | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 5
The orange yurt sleeps 5 in 3 single beds - (2 are put together as a double). 2 further small mattresses are provided (suitable for children). There is a woodburning stove, fire pit outside, tea making facilities. Cooking is in our beautiful converted bus - a fully kitted out kitchen/dining room. Compost loo, flush loos, solar shower - that can be heated with wood when the sun doesn't shine.
We are especially interested in the archaeology of farming, working with primitive breeds of sheep and growing ancient crops. We work as Cathedral archaeologists as well as running the farm and stone sculpting. It is a fairly unique place - better suited to those wanting a close to nature experience rather than a glamping or luxury holiday. It's a farm, so there is mud and muck and sheep emergencies that sometimes need to be sorted out before we can attend to guests! A great place if you want to experience a real way of life/peace/stars/self sufficiency/community/freedom but maybe not if health and safety features are a priority or you don't have time to supervise young children. We grow/produce most of the food here to support the community of volunteers that work on this project - vegetables, fruit, honey, milk, cheese, meat. We are passionate about wildlife and run the farm as a nature reserve, maximising biodiversity.
We can sometimes take a dog - but it is essential to ring and discuss this first. We have sheep / cattle / dogs so need to protect them first.

"One of the best holidays EVER."
Simply put, this place is a huge favourite of ours. We've been 3 times and are planning a fourth visit asap. Its run by really great people and is set in the most peaceful and beautiful valley in mid Wales. The yurts are well equipped and cosy, with decent comfortable beds, cute lanterns, a little stove for boiling water and a wood burner for chilly nights. On arrival there is home made wine and cake, the perfect welcome. Its also really good fun for kids and lots for them to see and do, nice walks and lovely towns and villages near-by. If you want to get away from it all and slow down, there is no better place to go.

"This is a yurt with a view to die for!"
This Mongolian yurt is beautifully, authentically furnished with the addition of a wood burner (for winter) and a gas stove to cook on. There are rugs lining the inner walls of the yurt and the floor. The beds are comfortable and generally the yurt has a light and airy feel. There is a fire pit outside the yurt if you wish to cook over a camp fire. The view across the valley is simply stunning, and the location is very peaceful.

"Comfortable and delightful."
We had a wonderful midweek holiday here. We found the yurt very comfortable, my husband is a tall man and the beds were plenty long enough for him. We loved having the woodstove on the chilly spring evenings. The view was unspoiled. The extras that the farm provides, the meat, the milk and a few herbs from the garden were either free or reasonably priced and of the highest quality. A compost toilet can be a challenge for some people but not for us. We did not use the solar shower as it was so early in the year and we're not that hardy however the family welcomed us into the farmhouse to use their bathroom. I'd recommend this experience.
