Cottage | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
The Bell Ringer's Cottage in Llandegla is one of 4 dressed stone cottages opposite the historic church of St Tecla. It was built around 1866 at the same time that the church was being reconstructed, and originally was a workers cottage for Bodidris Hall. It sits just yards away from the Offa's Dyke foot path.
Llandegla is situated in the Vale of Clwyd and is an ideal base to explore the North Wales and Cheshire offering plenty of activities, places to visit and local walks of different levels on your door step. Llandegla also has a wonderful general stores and post office.
The cottage is deceptively spacious and has retained many of its original features including beams, exposed stone walls and has been newly refurbished and furnished to a high standard.
The ground floor offers a cosy comfortable lounge featuring an inglenook fire place with log burner and a fully equipped kitchen diner that leads out to a pretty sitting area in the cottage garden.
From the hall the staircase leads to a landing with two bedrooms one a double the second a twin and bathroom with double walk in shower and heated towel rail.
The Bell Ringer's Cottage is ideally situated to explore North Wales and Cheshire
It is only 2 miles to Coed Llandegla – the nationally known mountain bike centre. We have an outbuilding with 'oxford floor anchor' to secure mountain or road bikes to.

The North Wales region
Some of the most spectacular scenery in Wales lies along the Vale of Llangollen, where the Rivers Dee and Clwyd thread their way through steep wooded valleys and lush water meadows, overlooked by mountain ranges with peaks more than 2000 ft in height. Northward, the tortuous Horseshoe Pass winds between the mountains of Llantysilio and Eglwyseg toward the fertile Clwyd Valley. As the Dee runs eastward, it loops around the ancient market town and industrial capital of North Wales, Wrexham, where St Giles' steeple is one of the traditional 'Seven Wonders of Wales' - no fewer than five of the seven are to be found in Clwyd. The foaming River Dee at Llangollen tests the bravest of canoeists, and further up-river anglers can fish salmon and trout.
The county's wooded hillsides provide for hill climbers and walkers, while the attractive twisting lanes around Glyn Ceiriog are a motorist's delight.
Llandegla is well known nationally for its Mountain Bike Centre - One Planet Adventure, Coed Llandegla, also for fishing and shooting at Fauxdegla, but most importantly Offas Dyke path runs just a few yards from the cottage.
Llandegla village is only a short drive (10/15 mins) to Llangollen, Ruthin, Mold, Wrexham or Chester.
Some places to visit locally :
Clwyd Theatre cymru, Mold
Ruthin Craft Centre
Fauxdegla Shooting School
One Planet Adventure, Coed Llandegla, mountain Bike Centre
National Trust Properties Chirk Castle and Erddig
Hill View Fisheries
Plas Teg as featured on Country House Rescue

"Beautiful homely cottage"
My partner and I stayed for 3 nights with our little dog Jack and we didn't want to leave. Lovely, friendly village with some lovely walks and the cottage it's self was perfect... Cosey, clean and well equipped. There was nothing that Carol (owner) hadn't thought of to make our stay comfortable. We even had a welcome hamper for ourselves and a treat for the dog.
We will definitely be staying again.
Thank you Carol for being so lovely with us (and Jack) and so accommodating.
We look forward to seeing you again.

"An Cottage Oasis in North Wales"
The Bellringer's Cottage in the quiet village of Llandegla is the perfect cottage holiday for a couple (or 4 people). Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, it is close to the Llangollen and the Horseshoe Pass, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (World Heritage Site), and not far from the coast either. There are many places to visit and excellent pub/restaurants are plentiful. The folks in the village are super friendly too. The cottage's owners are very caring and flexible and made us more than welcome in their lovely home. We would certainly return to this cottage as there was much more than a week's worth to do and see. I cannot recommend this cottage highly enough.

A fantastic well stocked hamper was a great bonus too.
The accommodation is five star a large lounge with comfortable sofas and log burner great views from the front window too, lovely kitchen with large dining table all the utensils you could possibly want, two large windows which looked out onto well maintained back garden which our small dog loved.
Two big bedrooms upstairs with very warm comfy beds and large cupboards for all your clothes. The bathroom has large shower cubicle with powerful shower just what was needed after a long day. The property has been decorated to a very high standard a credit to its owners thanks for a great stay we hope to return soon.

This place was wonderful. We stayed here for two nights with our dogs and found it had everything we needed and more. Carol was very accommodating and had a wealth of knowledge about the area. The location is perfect for visiting Llandegla forest for the mountain bike and walking trails. There were lots of brochures and books on the local area and found a great six mile walk that starts just down the road from the cottage.
The cottage itself was warm and cosy and well stocked on supplies. Particularly appreciated the welcome hamper which even had something for the dogs. The back garden was a nice outdoor space that got lots of sun and was dog friendly. We did find one of our dogs trying to squirm through the hedge to get to the neighbours cat but luckily she couldn't make it through but we kept them on lead after that just in case.
