About the home

NEWLY COMPLETED - The Bell Ringer's Cottage in Llandegla is one of 4 dressed stone cottages opposite the historic church of St Tecla. It was built around 1866 at the same time that the church was being reconstructed, and originally was a workers cottage for Bodidris Hall. It sits just yards away from the Offa's Dyke foot path.

Llandegla is situated in the Vale of Clwyd and is an ideal base to explore the North Wales and Cheshire offering plenty of activities, places to visit and local walks of different levels on your door step. Llandegla also has a wonderful general stores and post office.

The cottage is deceptively spacious and has retained many of its original features including beams, exposed stone walls and has been newly refurbished and furnished to a high standard.

The ground floor offers a cosy comfortable lounge featuring an inglenook fire place with log burner and a fully equipped kitchen diner that leads out to a pretty sitting area in the cottage garden.

From the hall the staircase leads to a landing with two bedrooms one a double the second a twin and bathroom with double walk in shower and heated towel rail.

It is only 2 miles to Coed Llandegla – the nationally known mountain bike centre. We have an outbuilding with 'oxford floor anchor' to secure mountain or road bikes to.

A fresh well stocked hamper awaits your arrival - bread, butter, eggs, milk, biscuits etc. Should you have any special requirements please advise at the time of booking.

Tea, coffee, sugar and many basic condiments are also provided.

Special occasions - I am happy to provide flowers, wine, special cakes etc at cost if ordered at the time of booking or 7 days before your arrival.

Beautiful white bed linen and towels are provided.

Should you require professional domestic cleaning services, bed linen changes or additional towels during longer stays we can easily arrange this if required.

The fully equipped kitchen/dining area has a washer/dryer, iron, ironing board, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle, sandwich toaster, cafitiere and double eye level oven.

The sitting room has a large leather sofa, midi hifi with ipod dock, TV with DVD and freeview and log burner – All fuel for the log burner is provided - payment via our honesty box please.

Both bedrooms have plenty of hanging and shelf storage.

The bathroom has a walk in double shower with a powerful miras shower.

Access – Two stone steps lead up to the front garden and another small step in through the front door. Staircase to upstairs leads from the hall, please note there is a turn at the top of the staircase and may not be suitable for people with limited mobility.

Young families – We can supply 2 stair gates, travel cot, cot sheets, blankets, highchair, non slip shower mat and baby bath at no extra charge please request at the time of booking. Please note we do not supply a fire guard for the log burner.

Pets - We are able to accommodate well behaved dogs and do not charge extra, however, it is an express condition that they are not left unattended at anytime and you do not allow them on furniture / beds etc. and only upstairs if clean and dry. For your convenience we supply a dog bed, stainless steel water / food bowls, pet towels, pet fork and a little something in the hamper too . . . . . A small supply of 'dog bags' are also supplied please clean up after your dog at all times – thank you.

Mountain bikining - We have an Oxford ground anchor fitted for guests to secure bikes to.

Gun cabinet - Fauxdegla Shooting ground is less than a mile away, we have recently fitted a gun cabinet for the security of anyone visiting with shotguns.

Supermarket deliveries - why not order your food to be delivered following your arrival.

Outside – Front garden has a border with gravel area. To the rear of the property the pretty cottage garden has a deep border of perennial plants and grassed lawn area, it is south facing and garden furniture is provided.

Parking - is directly outside the property.

Outbuilding with 'oxford floor anchor' to secure mountain or road bikes to. Bikes left at your own risk.

PAYMENT - We accept Credit and Debit Card payments over the telephone, Sterling cheques, Sterling bank - transfer / online banking payments, or Cash ( late bookings only ) - Please contact us for more details

DEPOSIT - A non - refundable deposit of £100 per week booked must be received within 3 days of your booking being confirmed. The balance is due for payment 8 weeks prior to arrival along with security deposit. Any booking taken less than 8 weeks prior to arrival must be paid in full on confirmation of booking.

SECURITY DEPOSIT - £75 due with final payment.

SHORT BREAKS - Short Breaks are available September to June inclusive and subject to late availability through July and August - rates available on request. and must be paid for in full on confirmation of booking.

CANCELLATION - If cancellation occurs within 8 weeks of the holiday, you will be liable for the full rental. However should we be able to re - let the property, your payment less the deposit will be refunded.

CONDITIONS OF HIRE

Reservations of accommodation are accepted on the following terms and conditions.

Once a booking has been confirmed by Carol Evans, we will hold the booking for 3 days until we receive your payment. After this time, dates will be released if no payment is received.

No responsibility of financial liability will be accepted from the Hirer for any accident to them or loss or damage to their property/personal belongings/motor vehicles, whilst at the holiday home, however caused during their stay.

The Hirer undertakes to keep the property and all furniture fixtures and fittings in or on the property in the same state of repair and condition as was at the commencement of the hire.

Any breakages or damage must be reported to the owner and paid for before leaving.

The number of persons sleeping in the hired property must not exceed the number indicated on the tariff schedule, apart from a baby in a cot.

The North Wales / Denbigh/Flint/Conwy region

Some of the most spectacular scenery in Wales lies along the Vale of Llangollen, where the Rivers Dee and Clwyd thread their way through steep wooded valleys and lush water meadows, overlooked by mountain ranges with peaks more than 2000 ft in height. Northward, the tortuous Horseshoe Pass winds between the mountains of Llantysilio and Eglwyseg toward the fertile Clwyd Valley. As the Dee runs eastward, it loops around the ancient market town and industrial capital of North Wales, Wrexham, where St Giles' steeple is one of the traditional 'Seven Wonders of Wales' - no fewer than five of the seven are to be found in Clwyd. The foaming River Dee at Llangollen tests the bravest of canoeists, and further up-river anglers can fish salmon and trout.

The county's wooded hillsides provide for hill climbers and walkers, while the attractive twisting lanes around Glyn Ceiriog are a motorist's delight.

The Llangollen / Llandegla area

Llandegla is well known nationally for its Mountain Bike Centre - One Planet Adventure, Coed Llandegla, also for fishing and shooting at Fauxdegla, but most importantly Offas Dyke path runs just a few yards from the cottage.

Llandegla village is only a short drive (10/15 mins) to Llangollen, Ruthin, Mold, Wrexham or Chester.

“Wonderful break away!” I stayed at the cottage with my husband and 9yr old daughter and her friend. The girls had an amazing time playing in the snow and Carol had also bought them sledges that we took on the hills. We all loved the cottage and can't wait to return!

“Can't wait to go back” Bell Ringers Cottage is very well appointed and beautifully decorated. It's a lovely old cottage but with thorough modern fittings. Although it is fully heated with radiators there is also a lovely log burner which was welcome on a cold March night. There is plenty to see and do in the local area if you can tear yourself away from the cottage!! We had breakfast at the Willows Cafe which was really good value for money and I hear The Crown pub which has been recently taken over and is an easy walk now does really good food. We loved seeing all the birds in the back garden - Carol keeps the feeders well stocked and I think at one point I saw six differnt species all on the feeder together! The hamper provided on arrival was a welcome addition and saves having to dash out to the supermarket as there were (amongst other local treats) milk, eggs and butter. We would thoroughly recommend it - thank you Carol.

“Charming cottage in a small Welsh village” We received a warm welcome from the cottage owner, who had provided a thoughtful selection of groceries. The house was clean and cosy with lots of fresh towels provided. Parking is right outside the front door, so unloading the car was easy. Llandegla has a small but well-stocked village shop that was just a minute's walk from the cottage. We enjoyed finding St Tegla's well, just a few minutes' stroll from the cottage, and learning about the bizarre ancient rituals associated with it.

“Bellringers Cottage looks amazing on website, is even better in the flesh!!” We travelled at very short notice to my uncle's funeral. Bellringers Cottage was opposite the church and was delightful. It looked beautiful on the website and was even lovelier in real life. We loved the furnishings, the extensive hamper supplied by the lovely Carol. It was warm, cosy and we instantly felt at home there. We intend going back this summer to enjoy the comforts of Bellringers Cottage for a full week and visit all the sights and places close by, including Chester where I was born. All in all, you MUST VISIT Bellringers Cottage, you will not be disappointed.

“Cosy cottage” Stayed in the Bell Ringer's cottage over a long weekend. Overall, it was a great experience. The owners were very welcoming. The cottage was in excellent condition and the kitchen was well equipped. The location is great for travelling to Llandegla and the various adventure activities there.

“Just perfect!” Oh what a find! A gem of a cottage, with absolutely everything you could think of at your disposal. Carol made us feel so welcome and the hamper was a lovely added bonus, with Carol even ringing a couple of days before to check what we'd like! It is SO clean and although i was a bit concerned about the cottage taking pets (we avoid this if at all possible due to an allergy), I needn't have worried, it was spotless and everything was done to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. The cottage is beautiful, thoughtfully and tastefully decorated and the views out over the church and the hills behind are lovely. You feel like you really escape the pace of life. And being just a tad chilly in October, we luckily had an excuse to light the wood burning stove, which just added to the warm homely feel of this fab cottage. Carol had provided everything for our small children, travel cot, stairgate, high chair, plastic cutlery and plates!! And even some lovely children's books on the window sill, so it felt like a home away from home, We were very sad and will definitely come back again!

“Wow, what a lovely place :-D” Well, from the confirmation of our booking I could tell we had booked a great place. Carol responded to all our emails with lots of places to visit during our stay and we were able to choose what we had in our welcome hamper ( the doggies even got included too ). Well, what can we say about the cottage, it was lovely, we had a lovely warm welcome from Carol, the fire was roaring, which was lovely. The cottage was done to a very high standard, lovely comfy beds, great power shower, the kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could need. We had our two boxer dogs with us who were welcomed just like we were. We had beautiful weather during our stay, we managed to do plenty of walking with the dogs, but definitely enjoyed making the most of the garden in the evening sun and a cheeky fire when the sun had gone in. We did lots of walks in llandegla forest, which was lovely, we didnt come across any other dog walkers, so peaceful, there were paths for walkers and paths for bikers, the food was brilliant at the cafe and Carol did tell us about a bbq they had once a week, but we didnt make it here unfortunately. There were plenty of walks right from the door of the cottage, not a great deal of livestock in the fields when we were there (August time). There is a Tesco's about 15mins drive from the cottage, however there was a shop in the village that sold the basics (including sun cream that we needed when we were there :-)) We had a fabulous break at the Bell Ringers Cottage and will definitely be back, highly recommended for dog owners, families, couples, well, actually, anyone :-)

“Fabulous - a perfect retreat” We stayed at bellringers cottage for a last minute weekend break and couldn't have been more happy with both the cottage and location. Carol made every effort to accomodate us at short notice and we had such a lovely time, we've already booked to return. The cottage is tastefully decorated, very clean and well equipped. The log burner is lovely of an evening if it turns chilly and there is secure storage for bikes. The small touches such as welcome hamper and childrens books in the bedroom make a difference. The cottage faces a church and has fantastic views over the hills. There is a well stocked post office, coffee shop and pub - all that you'd need. Finally, there are walks and bike trails on the doorstep and Llangollen, Mold and Chester are all a short drive away. We would recommend this Bellringrs cottage without hesitation.

“Warm, cosy comfortable accomodation” Friendly welcome, very comfortable accomodation, very suited to our needs as a couple with two well behaved dogs. Lovely welcome hamper provided, with something extra for the canine guests. Very clean and well provided. Excellent walking in the area, especially the forest in Llandegla itself. Post office and village shop within easy reach supplying basic needs.

“Warm and friendly welcome, relaxing stay with lovely welcome hamper” From pulling up to the cottage to leaving we thoroughly enojoyed the weekend at The Bellringers Cottage. Carol and Richard have a wonderful eye for detail and the comfort of the guests. There was a lovely welcome hamper of local produce. There are lots to see in the area and a wealth of information about the area be it for walking, sightseeing or mountain biking to be found in the cottage. The cottage itself is immaculate, lovely multifuel fire to relax in front of with a glass of wine. We would most definately recommend this to anyone and are most definately intending to go back.

“Excellent accommodation in a lovely quiet village” The Bellringers is perfectly situated in the pretty village of landegla. The cottage itself is spotlessly clean and equipped with everything you could possibly need,one of the best we have ever stayed in! Carol, the owner was on hand and could advise on anything or anywhere to go should you need help. There is plenty to see and do in the area, lots of walks- a long weekend wasn't enough!

“Very comfortable and felt like home from home” Lovely cottage: it was very clean, had abundant provisions, had a good powerful shower, we loved the welcome hamper (Welsh butter especially delicious!), our children (aged 4 and 6) enjoyed watching the birds in the garden whilst having their breakfast. The villagers were friendly and the location was great- situated opposite the village church with Offa's Dyke almost on the doorstep.

“Superb” Bellringers cottage is such a lovely place to stay,it is very well equipped and presented to a very high standard we loved the peace and quiet of the garden it was a lovely place to sit and read in the afternoons.Carol and richard go out of there way to make sure each guest is looked after and are very helpful.we would recommend a stay at the cottage for anyone and hope to return shortly.

“A lovely holiday retreat” Excellent service from the owner. The property was very clean and furnished to a high standard with most equipment provided particularly in kitchen. Small garden - joy to watch birds on feeders. Good village shop/Post Office basic essential, happy to order daily papers for duration of our stay. Though in centre of village, the cottage was quiet, had good views and walks within a few yards. The access to other villages, towns and countryside in locality was easy.

“A fantastic, cosy, dog friendly, cottage in a lovely village” The host, Carol, has thought of everything including a lovely hamper with doggy treats. A newly renovated cottage, complete with a fantastic kitchen/diner and log burner in the lounge. When it snowed Carol went out of her way to make sure we were okay and even wanted to trek over to supply more logs for the wood burner - it is always appreciated when someone is prepared to go the extra mile to make you welcome and ensure you have a great time! The cottage has all you would expect and more - very comfortable. The local shop is a couple of mins away, and the great local pub, The Crown Hotel is a 10min walk away, which is a friendly family place with a good choice of food for children and adults alike. Thoroughly recommended, we will be back.

“If you only ever stay in one Holiday Cottage make it this one!” We were the first guests to stay here and the lengths that Carol the owner had gone to in order to make our stay comfortable was amazing. The cottage is superb with a very well equipped kitchen, we couldn't fault it. Its a really cosy place and the log burner in the lounge really was the icing in the cake. The master bedroom was lovely and the bed the comfiest I think i ever slept in. The bathroom is fitted with a wonderful large walk in shower with no bath but in a small bathroom this is a really good option. We were taking part in a cycling event during our stay and the owners went to the trouble of fitting a security ground anchor in their outbuiding so the bikes were safe and secure. The location is lovely and quiet and we always managed to park right outside the cottage, bit of a hike to the nearest pub but with a cottage this lovely you'd really want to spend as much time in it as possible! Response: Pleased to say that the Crown pub has now reopened, its exactly half a mile or a 10 minute walk from the cottage and serves great food and reasonably priced.
