The North Wales / Anglesey region

Anglesey is on the coast of North Wales and has over 100 miles of beathtaking coastline and in addition most of the area is classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is known as a bird watchers' paradise due to its wide open wetland areas, cliffs and coves.
The climate in Anglesey is mild, and the brunt of the Atlantic winds are taken by the mountains of Snowdonia which shelters the southern end of the area, allowing the benefit of the warmer gulf stream to be felt.
The Llangefni / Trefor area
There is easy access from the property to all the attractions of Anglesey and North Wales/Snowdonia. In particular the beaches at Rhosneigr and Trearddur Bay which are close by.
It is a great place for watersports throughout the year and Golfers who will enjoy the numerous courses including four 18 hole courses. Cyclists will also enjoy discovering Anglesey, whether you consider yourself a serious cyclist or just enjoy meandering.

Family activities
Please see the leaflets we have left for more details on the activities available.
The Isle of Anglesey has been a favourite for family holidays for many years. Children always love the freedom of a beach but beyond the sand castles and rock pools the Island has plenty to offer.
Whatever your age or whatever the weather, there is always something to enjoy together; from a castle to a sea zoo - visit a working windmill, a dark Victorian prison or a lighthouse on an island. All these can be found on this exciting Welsh Island.
There's your childhood to rediscover at the Museum of Childhood, furry and feathered friends to meet at Foel Farm Park or Henblas Country Park. Why not wander into a world of make believe at Anglesey Model Village or wonder at the spectacular creatures that live beneath our waters at Anglesey Sea Zoo.
For the more active why not try a walk with a difference, down 400 steps to the lighthouse perched on a tiny island at South Stack. Visit the exhibitions and take a tour up the lighthouse. Remember to get the kids to count all the steps on the climb back up again! You can also view thousands of nesting birds on the Cliffs of South Stack from Ellin's Tower (RSPB).
If the steps don't appeal why not visit the Heritage Gallery at Oriel Ynys Mon in Llangefni. It makes an ideal start point for discovering Anglesey whatever your interests, bringing the history, nature and legends of the island alive under one roof.
No visit to Anglesey would be complete without calling at the village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, (Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll for short), the village with the longest name in Great Britain.

The Mount is situated about 3/4 mile to the north of Trefor, on the B5112, about half way between Trefor and Carmel, adjacent to the church of Llechcynfarwy. Trefor is really just a few houses dotted around the crossroads of the B5190 and the B5112.
The post code for the property is LL65 4TY, but using this in Google Earth etc. takes you to a farmhouse about a 1/4 mile to the west of our property.
In Google maps etc., search for: Llechcynfarwy, Tref Alaw, Anglesey
.
DIRECTIONS - driving
From the mainland:
Follow the A55 over the Britannia Bridge signposted for Holyhead. Leave the A55 at junction 5. Junction 5 is signposted for Rhosneigr/A4080 to the left, but you need to turn right, heading towards Carmel/Llanerchymedd/Amlwch on the B5112.
You leave the A55 on a slip road and go back over the dual carriageway, going straight ahead and you come almost immediately to a crossroads, with the old Holyhead road (A5). Go straight over this crossroad. You will then be heading roughly north on the B5112 towards Trefor/Carmel/Llanerchymedd/Amlwch. Continue on this road for a couple of miles until you come to the small crossroads in Trefor, crossing the B5109. (Trefor is a very small collection of houses) On the opposite, left hand side of the crossroads is a small Chapel.
Continue straight over again, passing the Chapel on your left and follow the road for a little while (about ¾ mile). You will pass a lay-by on your right, and then a small church on your right. The Mount is just past the church on your right, on the corner of a small, staggered crossroads. It is a fairly long, low white building. Turn right at the crossroads and the car park is found just past the property on the right.
From Ireland via Ferry Terminal:
Follow A55 and exit junction 5, following directions as above.
Ferry information:
Irish Ferries - 08705 171717, Stena Line Ferries - 08704 201267
DIRECTIONS - by train:
Some trains for Holyhead stop at Valley, which is a request stop. Call Valley Taxis on 01407 741741 for a taxi (about £8 each way) to the house. Tell the driver the house is 3/4 mile from Trefor on the Trefor/Amlwch road, on the right hand corner, just after the church of LLechcynfarwy.

Central location made it easily accessible to all the many attractions of Anglesey [ and North Wales]but it is also a good place just to chill out. The hot tub was very popular as was the fire in the lounge. The large ,well-equipped kitchen and dining area was the social heart of the group stay. The conservatory is a great place to read ,eat or just to admire the view over to Snowdonia. We had a grand time and were very sorry to leave. Response: Thanks very much for the comments |
Guestbook for The Mount
""What a fantastic place! The perfect location to explore the Island. The house is fantastic - we spent most of our time enjoying the views from the conservatory. "
"Fantastic weekend. Lovely cosy home from home. Many Thanks, we'll be back"
"what I most enjoyed over the weekend was the late afternoon BBQ, with amazing meats from the local butchers, a game of boules in the back garden followed by a soak in the hot tub. I'm going back again this summer!"

SMALL GROUPS
We may make the Smithy end of the house available for up to 4 people, at short notice. This would be at very cheap rates, and the remainder of the house would not be in use by anybody else. This would suit, for instance, a couple and dog wanting a weekemd or weekday walking break.
MAKE US AN OFFER
If you can see that the house is vacant for the next week or 2, feel free to make us an offer - we would rather have the house occupied.
