About the home

Little Gaerfields is a barn converted to a high standard on a working family farm. Having 6 bedrooms in total plus a landing bed it makes a lovely home to celebrate special events. There is an indoor swimming pool with swim jet and Infared sauna. A shepherds hut with comfortable 5' bed and ensuite shower room is available for hire.
You can see the animals,or explore the rich and diverse countryside as we are situated on the Welsh Borders with many Castles,Hills and the Wye Valley. A chef can deliver lovely meals and cakes in to save you cooking and you can take part in fun and games in team building events held on the farm or in the Royal Forest of Dean.

The 3rd bedroom with 2 bunk beds is a great favourite with a door leading to the granary steps and the garden. It has a ladder leading to a mezzanine floor with 2 mattresses and a small doorway leading to a play room/balcony on the 3rd floor. The family bathroom which this bedroom uses has a slipper bath for that added touch of luxury.All double beds are 6' zip and link which means we can offer 20 single beds for Hen parties.
New for 2011 is a shepherds hut with 5' zip and link bed and ensuite shower room. It can be hired as an extra bedroom for the cottage or for a couple to have a night or two away in an unusual accommodation.

Further details outdoors:
The garden is secure for small children with stair gates,toys and bikes.
Children will love the farm with cattle, sheep, pigs and hens to see and sometimes chickens hatching.
With underfloor heating and log fires the barn is very cosy in winter after long walks in the country.

The Heart of England / Peak District / Herefordshire region

Herefordshire is on the border of England and Wales and has a rich history with many skirmishes between the Welsh and English leading to a great many beautiful Castles being built. Also famous for Hereford Cattle, Hop fields for Beer, Apple Orchards for Cider. Hereford is a lush green county surrouned by the Black Mountains to the west and The Malvern Hills to the east and the Clee to the north. Crops grow well here and are diverse

The Llangarron area

Hereford (15 mins in a car is a Cathedral City with Black and White Houses, Chained Libraray, The Mappa Mundi (oldest map of the World), Bulmers Cider.The River Wye runs through the city and offers all sorts of sporting activities.
Hay-on-Wye (45 mins in a car though the Golden Valley) is on the border of Wales and is known for been the home of the largest book shop in the world.The Royal forest of Dean is to the east of Hereford and has a Sculpture Trail, www.goape.co.uk (fantastic climbing course). Close by try www.monnowevents.co.uk for quad bikes and many exiciting out door activities.

1 hour from Birmingham or Cardiff airport. A car is essenial as Little Gaerfields is suitated on a farm in rural england but a car can be hired from the airport.

“Perfect venue for all age family holiday” We booked Little Gaerfields for an extended family break to celebrate my husband's retiral. We were made very welcome by Sheila and the provision of lovely fresh eggs was well recieved. The accommodation was really outstanding, with all the bedrooms being very well appointed. The kids loved the room with the bunk beds and the bed on the little landing. The main kitchen was brilliant with everything you could possible want. The pool was a tremendous success, with the grandchildren making great use of it every single day. Sheila told us about the possibility of hiring a bouncy castle, which we did one day, much to the kids' delight. We were also able to hire a local chef on our last evening, who came in to the property and cooked a fabulous meal for us. What a perfect way to end a perfect family holiday!

The Fosters -
We had a wonderful stay at Little Gaerfields, our hosts couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, we especially appreciated some wonderful gifts of eggs both chocolate and normal and veggies. Though the pavlova was definitely the best and really delicious!
The accommodation was wonderful very comfortable, the photos on the website didn't do the barn justice - it was fab! Great location, beautiful scenery, loved the playarea looking over the countryside - will definitely return!

Just returned from a fantasic weekend at Little Gaerfields. The weekend went by so quickly as there was so much to do - the pool, the play area, the field for ball games, the indoor play barn the list goes on. The house is ideally located for lovely walks in and around the countyside and yet near to towns and cities to visit more major attractions if you wanted to. The house was very clean and spacious and Sheila had thought of everything even down to the chocolate eggs! The encouragement to recycle was welcomed and fun for the children - after all its not everyday you can feed scraps to the pigs! Sheila and Vernon as hosts were always there to offer you advice and help whilst ensuring and repsecting your complete privacy. We - thats 11 children, 8 adults and 1 dog having had a busy yet very relaxing weekend and are already planning next years reunion. Thankyou. Definitely recommend
