The North Wales region
Anglesey is situated on North Westerly tip of Wales. Surrounded by 125 miles of rugged coast and beautiful sandy beaches, most of it has been designated area of outstanding natural beauty. Anglesey has its own micro climate and weather pattern, which can change almost hourly.
Llanfaethlu is the closest village, 1.5 miles away, with a convenience shop and Pub the Black Lion, which also has a restaurant. Church Bay with its award winning Seafood Restaurant The Lobster Pot (open seasonally please check to avoid disappointment), is aprox 4 miles by car. It also boasts a blue flag beach and the Wafecrest cafe which is open during summer season and "Swtan" a restored 17th century welsh heritage cottage which is now run as a museum preserving history and culture.
Llinon Mill, the only working mill in North Wales is in nearby Llandeusant, a short drive away.
The port of Holyhead is aprox 12miles by car and has daily sailings to Ireland. Holyhead Train station direct trains to London in under four hours.
Sandy Beach, which really lives up to its name is only 700 metres stroll away. With excellent water sports and safe bathing area. The Caravan park at the far end of the beach has a shop and bistro due to re-open later. Trefadog a small sandy cove is only 500 metres away and easily accessible with a push chair, Boats may also be launched from that point.
The Anglesey coastal path also runs along these two beautiful beaches and if you wish to have a good walk to Church Bay, than this would be a lovely route to take and reward yourself with a nice crab salad at the Lobster Pot before returning back to Hen Llety and relax with a glass of wine on the patio.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. It really helps future guests to be able to read that the cottage is warm and cosy even in the wet and windy winter months. There is nothing more invigorating than a brisk walk along the beach to blow away the cobwebs and admire the power of the sea as the waves come crashing in. This was a great place to stay, but, for me a couple of problems. The garden was not secure so our dog would wonder off with Woody and as he is a town dog not used to being outside a garden it was a w… More
Thank you for your review and we are sorry about the electricity being turned off on one of the days of your holiday. Unfortunately we didn't know until the day before that the electrician was coming to do some essential maintenance which took longer than we anticipated. As regards the garden, yes we are aware it not being secure to let a dog out without supervision if it wants to wander off. We are in the process of getting some extra fencing put up, however as we live on a smallholding we can't guarantee that it will be dog escape proof. A lot of our holiday makers love the fact that they can let their dog out in front of the cottage straight into a field.
