Less than an hour away is the beautiful county of Pembrokeshire. Here there is definitely something for everyone.
The beautiful walled town of Tenby with its stunning beaches and quaint cobbled streets, breathtaking Pembroke castle and of course the smallest city in the UK St Davids with its glorious cathedral. Oakwood theme park and Folly farm all offer great days out for all the family.
Pembrey Country park offers not only a beautiful beach and beautiful parkland, but has a dry ski slope with local ski equippedment hire.
Llanelli / Millennium Quay area
Nearest beach? You are on it!!! Actually on your doorstep, the wonderful millennium coastal path taking you to the National Wetland centre to the east and Pembrey Country Park to the west. The former industrial area has been transformed to include this wonderful 22km path/cycle track. The visitors centre offers light snacks in its 1st floor restaurant and an abundance of tourist information. Cycle hire is also available from the visitor centre.
Fancy a day at the races? The multi million pound brand new racecourse Ffos las is opening on June the 18th 2009 and is only a short drive away. Maybe Golf more your thing, The award winning Nicklaus golf course is literally within walking distance, with its fabulous club house and Spa which is open to non members. Llanelli is also home to the world famous Scarlets Rugby club and its brand new super Stadium.
Pembrey Racetrack is a short drive away with its regular race events and testing days, including lorry, truck and bike racing.
The fantastic Afan Argoed mountain bike range is 30 mins away with fantastic tracks for all abilities. Bike rental is available at the nearby visitor centre. Merlin cycles have very reasonable rates will even deliver to the door!!!
Brecon Beacons is but an hour away by car, with the Gower and its outstanding surfing beaches less than 30 mins away!!
How to get there
Just 1 hour from Cardiff international airport and 3hours form Paddington Train Station, London. Llanelli is easy to access off juction 48 of the M4. A regular train services runs to and from the towns railway and a national bus service allows tourist to access the town.The city of Swansea is just 20 mins east of the town with Carmarthen just 30 mins west.
