The West Wales / Pembrokeshire / Carmarthenshire region
Great place to relax with comfort. With a varied range of individual restaurants, bars and pubs only a stones throw away you'll never go short for entertainment. There are also extensive leisure facilities locally including golf courses and a leisure centre.
The natural beauty of South Wales coastline, perfect for lazy beach walks or more active watersports. Along the Millennium Coastal path which runs right past the front of Millennium Quay and alongside the Loughor Estuary, you can take in the wildlife as you wander through one of most spectacular and outstanding areas of natural beauty in Wales.
Also close by is Parc Howard Mansion, a historic building set in delightful, well maintained grounds where you can explore the local culture and find a superb collection of local Llanelli pottery and paintings.
Llanelli / Millennium Quay area
Lots of water sports and activities in the surrounding. This eighteen acre site is at the heart of the Millennium Coastal Park and overlooks Carmarthen Bay and the rejuvinated dock. It therefore offers a unique waterside setting that’s sure to provide an appealing environment for a variety of uses.
The lake on your doorstep is popular for canoeing and swimming. Café bars restaurants and landmark hotels are within easy reach. Millennium Quay creates a lively visual focus from the bridge accessing the dock.
At one end, there is the superb Nicklaus designed championship golf course. But that’s not all. They’ve also successfully taken 22 kms of the local coastline and transformed it into the stunning Millennium Coastal Park - more than 1500 acres has been given a spectacular face lift and reborn as a unique linear park featuring a stunning array of visitor attractions that include Pembrey Country Park, the National Wetlands Centre, an assortment of wildlife havens, an angling centre, a seafront promenade and a picturesque harbour.
These dramatic improvements have put Millennium Quay right on the map and Llanelli Waterside now is a very popular holiday destination in Wales.
How to get there
You will need to get onto the M4 Motor way. Exit at Junction 48 sign posted to Llanelli and then follow the signs to Llanelli. You will go across all sets of lights and roundabouts.
Take care as you approach first set of lights, there is a speed camera (40 mile limit)!!
You go across four roundabouts, the last one is signposted to Prince Philip Hospital, (you don't want to go there). Another set of lights, I like to keep in the right hand lane, which will take you to the large 'Trostre' roundabout.
The 1st exit is the Swansea Road, you take this if you want to visit the Gower or The Wetlands Centre, 2nd exit is to Trostre Works, 3rd is The Trostre Shopping Park, good shopping and a large Tesco's with a petrol station (petrol here usually cheaper than other places locally. Store is open until 10.00 p.m. weekdays, 8.00 p.m. Saturday.
You take the 4th exit which is the Coastal Road and signposted to 'Strady Park.'
Follow this road through, (care again, speed limit mainly 30, there is another speed camera, also, often mobile patrols?) through a number of new roundabouts, just follow the sign that says 'Strady Park.' You will pass a roundabout that goes to 'Machynys Golf and Country Club,' membership not essential for a visit to Bar, Restaurant or Health Club, worth a visit, the views are spectacular.
After the next roundabout you will see the 'Millennium Quay' site in front of you, with colourful apartment blocks and what looks like a white rendered 'ship' to the left of the apartment blocks, this is 'The Visitors Centre' which also has a Café, limited menu but very good value for money, again lovely view across the estuary, which is tidal, so take care if bathing!!!
This last roundabout takes you into North Dock and Millennium Quay. Take 1st exit across blue bridge, follow the road around, with the Dock(lake) on your right, (you will often see many young canoeists on this water). Take 3rd Turn left after the blue bridge. As you come to the 'T' Junction, take the turning right (where you will see the sign post to 'Pentre Doc y Gogledd'). Then Turn left again and follow the road around to your final destination in the Millennium Quay. One of our staff will meet you there and bring you to reserved accommodation. Please feel free to telephone or email us if you need further assistance.
