The West Wales/Pembrokeshire region
The area of Carmarthenshire is known as the Garden of Wales and it’s evident why that is. With miles of stunning coastline, history, nature reserves and rolling countryside, it provides an opportunity to enjoy all that it offers.
Literally on your doorstep is the award winning Millennium Coastal Park. This is the largest land reclamation project ever in Wales and cost £30 million. Over 2000 acres of wasteland and former industrial landscape has been transformed into a stunning 22km coastal pathway/cycle track linking the Pembrey Country Park and the National Wetlands Centre.
Llanelli town is lively with an indoor market offering local produce, shops, cafes & restaurant's and retains its' original charm. The area boasts a varied assortment of tourist attractions and places of interest.
You'll be surprised at the number and variety of activities that are available in this wonderful part of the world.
The Millennium Coastal Path (MCP) has a newly opened Discovery Centre with a restaurant & shop and offers hire of equipment. There are also beach showers located inside the centre. The Sospan Hopper Land Train also departs from here during summer months, taking adults and children on a leisurely ride along the coastal path.
At Pembrey Country Park there are plenty of activities & facilities for families. Try out your skills on the dry ski slope or toboggan run. Opt for a train ride, a game of pitch & putt or crazy golf, and let the kids burn off some energy in the adventure playground. A visitor centre and restaurant are also on site.
The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust in Llanelli runs The National Wetlands Centre here. The centre has various areas of natural habitat for a variety of birds & fowl. There are events throughout the year and the centre has a shop & restaurant on site.
For several hundreds years of history, visit the Aberglasney Gardens which is approximately 20 miles away. The main house is steeped in history and there are beautiful formal gardens, such as the Walled Garden, the Ninfarium, Cloister Garden, the Yew Tunnel and many more. There is a shop and café/restaurant on site also.
Pembrokeshire Coastal Path is 240 square miles of truly spectacular scenery. Providing rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, wooded estuaries, wild inland hills all provide a sanctuary for wildlife.
Dinefwr Park also provides beautiful gardens designed and executed by Capability Brown in the 18th century.
Take a boat trip out from Tenby Harbour and see Caldey Island. On the island you can visit Caldey Abbey, which is the home of Cistercian Monks. Here they farm this little island and produce revenue from sales of Caldey Island perfume & chocolate. You can also enjoy looking around the medieval priory, lighthouse & museum. To remember your day, buy a souvenir or two from the gift shop. Tea garden, pleasant walks & spectacular views.
Surprisingly with all this wonderful countryside, the area offers some great places for those that want a little adventure & some of the white knuckle kind!
Topping the list has to be the Oakwood Theme Park (junction 49 M4). This offers some high adrenalin thrill rides for those that want thrills, to more sedate children’s rides and activities. Reasonably priced entrance with family tickets of 4 or 6 makes this an affordable day out. Special events organised throughout the year - e.g. August 2007 - Fireworks every night. The Oakwood Centre also houses a ‘Techiquest’ providing interactive science activities.
For those of you that require a more gentile family day out, then visit Folly Farm near Tenby. This has a zoo, farm, funfair and large indoor adventure playground for kids and adults!
Culla Park offers a Paintball Centre at Trimsaran, approximately 5 miles away.
There is a plethora of castles around this area to view. The closest are Kidwelly Castle and Laugharne Castle.
Dolaucothi Goldmines date back to Roman times and offer a great insight to how gold was mined out of the Welsh hills all those hundreds of years ago.
For something more 20th century, visit the Pendine Museum of Speed. Pendine Sands is where many land speed records have been attempted & broken. The museum on in Pendine town houses the famous ‘Babs’ racing car that claimed the life of Parry-Thomas when he attempted to beat Malcolm Campbell’s earlier record.
Take a day out to Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park - located on a stunningly beautiful headland overlooking the nature reserve of Cardigan Island. A colony of Atlantic Grey Seals breed in the caves below the farm park and can be viewed at close quarters most days.

"Stunning sunset views from a nicely furnished and well equipped apartment."
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The comprehensive directions and entrance instructions made arrival easy. The only slight issue that we had was getting to grips with the lock on the main entrance door to the apartment block ( the key just seemed to go round and round several times before the door would open), but once you have mastered this, it was not a problem! The apartment was beautifully furnished and there were lots of nice touches that made us feel completely at home. The apartment is also very well equipped. For us, one of the best highlights were the beautiful sunsets every evening. The apartment faces due West and so the sunsets over the sea, sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine to hand were very special moments!! The location is quite central for visiting the Gower Peninsula, the Brecon Beacons and places like Tenby/Saundersfoot/Cardiff/Swansea. one of my personal favourite visits was to Laugharne which has a castle and, well worth a visit, is Dylan Thomas's Boat House. On a more practical note, there is a retail park and a number of supermarkets within a few minutes drive from the apartment. We had a small problem with our car on what would have been the last full day of our holiday. As this took a bit of time to sort out, and because we loved the place so much, we rang Yvette to see if it would be OK to stop one more night. She was more than accommodating and didn't even charge us for the extra night.! We would certainly return to this apartment next time we visit the area.

Excellent pre visit information. Prompt return of deposit.
Amazing view and right on the coastal cycle and foot path.
You do need a car but great shopping at Tostre, good food at Sospan (walkable).
The owners even provide bikes!

"Fantastic Family holiday"
Thank you for a fantastic holiday at your gorgeous Penthouse apartment. So well equipped, very much a home from home. Fantastic location right on the beach, our girls loved 'their beach' and scootering along the Millenium costal path! Spectacular views, amazing balconies!

"Nice appartment and great view"
Like a home with decorations and everything you need plus plenty of space. The view is great from the terrasses. Nice having the bicycles available for a trip along the coast line. Supermarkeds are few minutes away if you go by car.

"Well equipped, comfortable apartment with excellent views from balconies"
This is an excellent duplex apartment on the 3rd & 4th floors of a contemporary styled block. The 3rd floor consists of a large en-suite bedroom which faces the sea and 2 other bedrooms and a bathroom. The lounge/kitchen occupy the floor above and contain all the equipment you will need for your stay - nothing has been overlooked.
The location is ideal for anyone wanting to visit the beach with minimum effort as the apartment is as close as it could be. The Millennium Way runs in front and is good for serious walking/cycling or simply strolling around.
We had an excellent stay and our party spanned the age ranges (grandparent, parent, 4 & 5 year olds). This is a good area to visit and there is a visitor information centre sited just along the beach if you need any ideas.
The weather was very kind during our visit in June so the location to the beach and nearby area were what we appreciated most with 2 small children.
We would have liked a bigger range of nice eateries within walking distance - but this did not spoil our overall satisfaction with the property.
