The North Wales / Snowdonia / Denbigh/Flint/Conwy region
Llandudno is locally known as the "Queen of the Welsh Resorts" as it is the most popular resort in Wales, LLandudno was a creation of a famous landowner Lord Mostyn who in the mid 19th Century saw the potential of this beautiful scenic bay nestled between two rocky hills known as the Great Orme and the Little Orme. The Victorians loved the new resort and flocked in their thousands to take in the fresh sea air. Unlike many faded UK resorts Llandudno has kept the Victorian character and is the perfect family holiday, safe, clean and full of attractions.
The surrounding region offers plenty of opportunity for day trips , from the beautiful scenic drives and walks of Snowdonia and the surrounding villages , to the other popular resorts of , Conway, Colwyn Bay, Caernarfon,Rhyl, Barmouth, Porthmadog and many many more to mention.
Llandudno also benefits from a lovely climate as the Great Orme shelters the resort from the westerly winds, which act as a sun trap across the town when the sun shines.
Llandudno / Llandudno Town area
Llandudno is popular all year round and perfect for all the family it is packed with places to visit and activities, we also have two beaches, the North shore beach which runs all along the curve of the bay and yards from the main shopping street, ideal for sunbathing, sandcastles and paddling, and the quieter West shore with its boating lake and wind surfing, all within walking distance of Troodos.
There are a multitude of shops and a large modern retail park hosting, Debenhams, Monsoon, British Home Stores and many more. Then there is the Victoria centre on the main street a modern covered arcade hosting café’s and shops.
The town is also blessed with a wide cosmopolitan choice of restaurants, café bars and pubs, the main area for the best café bars and restaurants is situated at the bottom of the Ty Gwyn Rd a 10 minute walk from Troodos.
Popular attractions: Llandudno tram station is within 5 minutes of the house. The Trams run from 10:00am to early evening and will take you to the summit of the Great Orme where you will find a entertainment complex with a restaurant bars and shops as well as the stunning views.
The Great Orme dry Ski Slope, Snow Board and Toboggan Run, this is serious fun, the toboggan run starts 250m up the Orme and runs for 750m. The Ski run is just as impressive and there is a Ski lift to get you to the top. All that exercise creates a big appetite and there is a Swiss style restaurant and bar to take in refreshments, a great day out for all the family.
The longest and most famous Llandudno Cable Cars that take you on a exciting scenic trip to the top of the Great Orme, the Cable Car station is located in Happy Valley park a 15 minute walk away. We also have the famous Copper Mines which are a fascinating glimpse to Llandudno's past and are situated on the Orme a short 5 minute walk, this is a great trip to take the children on a rainy day, as the tour will take you into the old mine.
The Victorian pier, one of the finest in the UK and packed with attractions bars café’s and children’s rides. And if you like sea fishing this is a good place to hire a rod and line. The famous 750 seat Venue Clwyd hosts a variety of world class entertainment from West End shows , Live performances, Opera , renown Psychics and Xmas Panto’s
A special treat for the younger children is the daily Punch and Judy show which takes place opposite the pier. If you want to see more of the town or a guided tour we have an open top bus or take the vintage coach trip around the Great Orme, which will take you past millionaire’s row and the old St Tudno church. For the youngsters there is Thomas the train which travels from North to West shore daily.
And finally I must mention the most famous attraction of all, the Great Orme wild mountain goats with their beautiful Kashmir coats. You can normally see the goats from Troodos as the herd often come down into the road behind the house.
How to get there
By Car: Troodos is easily accessible from all major locations within the UK, the main highway to the town is the A55, this is a major dual carriageway trunk road into Anglesey from Cheshire and links to the major motorway network at Queensferry connecting to the M53 ( 45 minutes from LLandudno ) accessing the Wirral and Liverpool areas and the M6 / M56 at Warrington ( 1hr from LLandudno ) which connects to all other major routes.
Take junction 19 on the A55 onto the A470 ( 10 minutes from Llandudno ) and follow the signposts to Llandudno, the road will take you right into the outskirt of Llandudno passing ASDA on the left and the modern retail park on your right , at the entrance to ASDA you will approach a junction with Traffic lights, go through the lights and get into the right hand lane this will take you to a junction with Mostyn St and Vaughan St ( the large St Tudno hotel is on your right hand side ) drive straight ahead onto Vaughan St this will take you to the promenade.
Turn left at the promenade onto the Parade Rd and drive along until you reach the Cenotaph ( easily spotted ) . Turn right at the Cenotaph onto North Parade Rd, this will take you to a Traffic Island, turn left into Church Walks and then first right into Ty Gwyn Rd ( corner of the Empire Hotel ). Drive up the road , please be mindful that there could be some of Llandudno's most famous residents standing in the road, these are of course the beautiful wild goats that inhabit the Great Orme and who often walk along the road. After approx 0.5km you reach a set of traffic lights , it is here that you may encounter the famous Llandudno trams, take the second left onto Llwynon Rd, Troodos is located some two hundred yards on the right.
By Train: The Railway Station is approx 1 Km from Llwynon Rd ( Troodos ), and the easiest way to get from the Station is by Taxi, but you can get a Bus to LLwynon Rd , from the station cross the road into Vaughan Street and after approx 100m turn right onto Conway Road, you will see a Bus Stop on the right, the Bus is the number 73 and ask for Llwynon Rd, the fare is £1.00 per person.
