The North Wales region

NORTH WALES is famous for it's combination of seaside resorts, mountains and lakes. There are fine castles at Conwy, Caernarvon, and Beaumaris - all commenced by Edward 1 from about 1280. Caernarvon Castle is regarded as one of the finest examples in Britain. SNOWDON, the highest and finest mountain in the southern portion of Great Britain, has five peaks - although the name Snowdon is popularly reserved for the Wyddfa, the central and loftiest point, 3,560 feet above sea-level. There are five principal paths to the summit, with varying ease. There is the famous Mountain Railway - Britain's highest rack railway, which has been running since 1896. On a clear day, the view extends to Ireland, the Isle of Man, and heights in Cumberland.

In addition, there are houses and gardens administered by The National Trust, and Portmeirion Village - created by the architect Clough Williams - Ellis from 1925 to 1976 with 70 acres of woodland, and with miles of woodland and coastal walks.

There are also several "narrow gauge" railways powered by industrial steam and diesel loco's to delight both young and old!

Llandudno

LLANDUDNO has long been known as "The Queen of Welsh Resorts". It has much to offer: good shops and good restaurants too. There is a wonderful promenade and pier, and a scenic bay. "The longest cable car in Britain" glides to the summit of the Great Orme with it's ancient history - the oldest metal mine open to the public in the world. Llandudno's Great Orme Tramway is Britain's only cable-hauled street Tramway comprising of four of the original Victorian Tramcars. There is a first-rate theatre, conference and exhibition centre. Three golf courses within 15 minutes.

LYMPLEY LODGE is well situated for touring North Wales. Betws-y- Coed is 35 minutes drive, and Llanberis - in the heart of Snowdonia, and Beaumaris and Caernarvon a mere 45 minutes away. Conwy should not be missed.

"don't stay here"

we left after the third night and paid for another hotel in llandudno because the bedroom was damp wallpaper coming off the wall, cobwebs and spiders all around the room i was woken with spiders crawl… More

When they arrived at Lympley Lodge, we sensed at once that there was something wrong. A hidden agenda perhaps? They showed little interest in the apartment, but made full use of the groceries that were provided as a welcome. On the following mornings they were asked at least twice if everything was alright. Only to be answered in mono-syllables. On the morning of the fourth day we were told that they were having to return home. When asked if it was serious, we were told that they wouldn't know until they got there. Thus emphasizing that they had family problems. At no time did they say they were unhappy with their accommodation. Consequently we were unable to confirm the veracity of their complaints, or to have the opportunity to address the issues in a positive manner, and more importantly, in a way which would have been to their advantage, and we trust to their satisfaction. Instead, they chose to leave without saying anything. We acknowledge their comments about the furniture, and the fact that a bottle of sauce was out of date. That was careless, and should not have been allowed to happen. Spiders are active overnight.
In conclusion, we would say that it is not in our interest to have guests who were unhappy with their stay. You only have to look at the positive reviews that we get. Can they all be mistaken?

"A lovely apartment in lovely Llandudno"

We have had quite a few holidays in Llandudno, but this is the only apartment we have returned to, apartment is extremely well equipped, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The hosts Clive and Patricia are very very nice, caring people who will go out of their way to help you and make you feel special and very welcome, they will point out places of interest to visit. Bodnant farm shop being the most recent, well worth a visit. The apartment has free parking. There is a bus stop a few yards away if you want a day off from driving. Or you can walk along the front into town less than 2 miles, it's a lovely walk. Lots of lovely shops in Llandudno. There is a beautiful garden if you just want a lazy day. You will not be disappointed with Lympley Lodge. We hope to return later this year.
