The North Wales region

North Wales has a heritage as rich as its spectacular scenery with the mountains of Snowdonia, beautiful beaches and medieval castles. The area offers a range of opportunities from traditional cultural events, historical exploration and heritage sites to outdoor activities and sightseeing which always prove popular with families, outdoor sports enthusiasts and also those just looking for peace and tranquillity.

Numerous visitor attractions include Snowdonia National Park. The popular seaside resort of Llandudno, several World Heritage sites like the stunning Caernarfon Castle and the impressive Pontcysyllte aqueduct designed by Thomas Telford, there is the Mediterranean styled village of Portmeirion, not to mention the many art galleries, studios, museums and theatres which form part of the rich cultural heritage of this amazing country.

Llandudno

Llandudno is North Wales's largest resort, uniquely situated between the Great and Little Ormes (large limestone headlands) with two wonderful beaches, the award winning North Shore and the quiet, sand duned West Shore. Developed by the Mostyn Estate as a holiday resort in the late 19th Century Llandudno has kept its Victorian and Edwardian elegance and splendour, despite its modern attractions of restaurants, cafes and shops. Attractions include the pier (a grade II listed building built in 1878), the Great Orme Copper Mine, Country Park, Tram Way, Cable Car and Ski Slope. Venue Cymru is the largest theatre in the region and hosts a variety of acts and shows. Yearly events included the Victorian Extravaganza, Air Show and Christmas Market. An excellent road and rail network make this a great location to explore Snowdonia, Anglesey and the rest of North Wales
