About the home

The cottage is in an area of outstanding beauty on the Powys/Shropshire border with private fishing rights and stunning walks nearby. The village shop is one mile away and the area is well served by local pubs and restaurants. One of the owners has a house on the smallholding and is ready to advise on places to see.

The Powys / Brecon Beacons / Powys region

The house and garden are on the unpolluted River Vrynwy one mile upstream of the confluence with the River Severn. The climate is generally good during the summer months and the oil burning Arga central heating plus a wood burning fire in the sitting room make the cottage a snug winter reatreat. Sychpwll is on a leyline and some say this increases its 'magical and calming' atmosphere. The famous Offa's Dyke runs nearby and is world renowned as one of the most stunning walks in the UK.

The Llandrinio area

The cottage is located between the pretty market towns of Welshpool (7 miles) with attactions including historic Powis Castle and a steam railway and Oswestry (7 miles). It is overlooked by the Breiden Hills, with landmark Rodney's Pillar, perfect for long walks with stunning views. Lake Vrynwy is a short journey away. Nearby Ludlow and Shrewsbury (13 miles) have lots of attractions and annual festivals.

“Relaxing” We spent a week in the peace and tranquility of this beautiful cottage. The surrounding fields and countryside lend to the relaxing environment. It was a very pleasurable week, plenty space in the cottage, morning coffee in the conservatory, walking the dogs round the grounds and through the orchard. We will most certainly return. Most enjoyable holiday. I've recommended the cottage to all my friends.

“remote cottage with eco tendancies” we have just enjoyed a great week renting this cottage on the welsh/english borders. unfortunately the rain came down almost every day but we still found plenty to do. the accommodation is lovely and our dog loved bouncing around the orchard. the direct neighbour peter, was very helpful with any queries and showed us around his eco buldings including straw bale house etc..it was very interesting.

“perfect weekend getaway” well where do i start what a fantastic cottage, went with my husband for a peaceful break and we were not dissapointed the cottage is wonderfull and set in the most beautiful countryside will look forward to returnimg here to charge our batteries again very soon.

“A lovely restful place to unwind and recharge your batteries” Me and my daughter and our two dogs spent a lovely week at Sychpwll.The cottage was everything we expected and more.The dogs had a fantastic week with plenty of outside space to explore.
