The West Wales/Pembrokeshire region
We are located in Carmarthenshire, known as 'The Garden of Wales'. This green, unspoilt and picturesque area is abundant in wildlife, history and charm with something to suit all tastes. Within just a few minutes of the cottages are attractions such as ancient castles, famous gardens and world-famous river fishing on the River Towy.
South West Wales is lucky enough to have some of the best beaches in Britain and many are still relatively quiet when compared to their Cornwall and Devon counterparts. The Gower Peninsular (just 25 miles away) has some wonderful beaches with great surfing and enormous expanses of flat sand. Pembrey Beach(20 miles away) offers superb sandy expanses and pony trekking across the beach and a walk on Llansteffan beach will take you back in time. The beaches of Pembrokshire (Tenby, Saundersfoot, Barafundel and many more) make a brilliant day trip, less than an hour away from the cottages and The Black Mountain and Brecon Beacons National Park (which is viewable from the gardens) are firm favourites amongst our guests.
We are perfectly located for exploring South West Wales and Sewin Cottage is the perfect base.
Gwennol Cottage is one of 3 holiday cottages at Golden Grove Cottages. We are located in the historic village of Golden Grove (Gelli Aur), just a mile from the Golden Grove Mansion and deer park and only 3.5 miles from the picturesque and vibrant town of Llandeilo. Llandeilo is a famous market town in South West Wales associated with fine independent shops and galleries and eateries. Sitting majestically on the hill looking down the Towy Valley towards Carmarthen is the majestic 900 year old Dinefwr Castle and, within its ancient grounds, the 180 year old Newton House with its famous Highland Park Cattle.
There is superb fishing in the area with the River Towy providing excellent Salmon and Sewin (sea trout) fishing just 5 minutes' drive from the cottages. The famous National Botancial Gardens of Wales and Aberglasney Gardens are a short drive away (5-10 minutes) as too are two further castles and Paxtons Tower from which you can see the Towy Valley in all its ancient glory.
Another firm favourite with our guests is the Black Mountain in the Brecon Beacons National Park which at less that 30 minutes from the cottages offers spectacular walking and breath-taking views.
