The North Wales region
Snowdonia is described by the Rough Guide as 'the most dramatic and alluring region in Wales' the area is also the main adventure destination in the British Isles with the highest concentration of opportunities for outdoor activities. No other area in the UK can offer such a diverse range of year round activities and attractions, whatever the weather . Wrapped around these mountains is more than 300km of coast. It offers rich pickings for the sea angler , while inland lakes and rivers increases this variety, with rivers ranging from mountain torrents to fat lazy lowland waters. It has over a hundred recognised lakes. It's ripe with opportunities for a vast range of pursuits at every level from beginner to expert. With Plas y Brenin Outdoor Centre in Capel Curig(15km from Llanberis) considered the most complete outdoor destination in the UK.
Other attractions include, Bodnant Gardens, Llechwedd Slate Caverns, Sygun Copper Mines, plus many more. Numerous castles including Caernarfon Castle where the investiture of Prince Charles took place. A short stroll from the castle is the station where you can catch The Welsh Highland Railway. A journey of 26 miles through some of the most breathtaking scenery you will ever see. Highly recommended.
Ty Gwyn is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area and all the village has to offer . Llanberis has 2 lakes surrounded by mountains and is one of the most scenic villages in all of Snowdonia, the views are amazing . The village is home to many popular attractions including Snowdon Mountain Railway, Lake Railway, Electric Mountain, The National Slate Museum within Padarn Country Park (admission free), and the medieval Dolbadarn Castle, where the views of the surrounding area are quite breathtaking, plus many more attractions. Llanberis has always been popular with walkers and climbers, and now has all manner of outdoor activities including diving, watersports, pony trekking and cycling. Padarn Lake(Llyn Padarn) offers pleasure boats, canoeing, windsurfing and sailing at Padarn Water Sports Centre. Mountain biking and cycling is very popular in the area ,there's a cycling path that runs along the lake on the old railway line, towards Caernarfon, plus many more different routes. If you haven't got your own bikes you can hire them at Llanberis Bike Hire (01286 872787).
There are numerous shops , cafes, pubs, and restaurants, with the Peak restaurant being one of the most popular restaurants in the area, producing high quality local food, cooked for you by Angela Dwyer. An accomplished chef having cooked for the likes of Madonna, Queen, Lenny Henry and Dawn French, and cooked for Nigela Lawson's first wedding. "Brilliant cottage with completely secure pet friendly garden in superb location"
From the moment we arrived, we knew we had picked a good one! The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival with some generous welcome packs. The kitchen was well kitted out with beautifully sharp knives and 2 cafetieres! Steve, the owner, had really thought about what people would want when on holiday; everything we needed was provided and even the double bed was comfortable! Very clear instructions on operating equipment and a really useful array of brochures and maps about the local area. The availability of somewhere to park the car beside the house was an added bonus. You can walk from the cottage into the hills behind without having to get into a car, The local neighbours are friendly and the local SPAR shop is excellently stocked. We certainly intend to return and will be recommending it to other members of our family.
Thanks for your generous review , would love to welcome you back some time in the future , glad you found the cottage comfortable, well stocked and well located , appreciate your comments .

We've stayed in North Wales numerous times over the years, but never in such comfort. Ty Gwyn is very well-equipped and ideal for a couple of small family and well-situated for walks from the door. Shops/facilities in Llanberis are within a few minutes' walk whilst the Pass, Ogwen, Caernarfon etc are only a short drive away. Steve went out of his way to stock the house with milk, local cakes & treats for the kids which was pleasant surprise upon arrival. We look forward to coming back. Highly recommended.
Thanks Jeremy for your kind review , much appreciated , im glad you enjoyed your stay at Ty Gwyn and found it very comfortable, homely and well equipped , the welcome treats were my pleasure. We aim to please. Always good to get nice feedback . Look forward in welcoming you back sometime in the future . Kind regards Steve

"Lovely Snowdonia holiday cottage......."
We recently stayed the week and found the cottage was lovely, well equipped, clean, and well kept. Had a lovely relaxing holiday with the family enjoying all the local area has to offer. We really like the area and have visited many times before and hope to come back again soon. We had really good communication from the owner and I would definitely recommend the cottage to others.

"Fantastic little cottage - beautiful mountain scenery"
We couldn't have chosen a better introduction to North Wales. This cottage is absolutely delightful and Llanberis is an ideal base for visiting Snowdon and the surrounding, beautiful countryside. The owner couldn't have been more helpful and has a cottage to be proud of. My husband and I were travelling with our adult son and it fitted the bill for us perfectly. There is lots to do in the area and the drive through the Llanberis Pass must not be missed. We walked to the waterful, the castle and alongside the lake which is lovely. We took the train up Snowdon and can thoroughly recommend it. We only wish we could have had longer but hope to come back again one day and will be recommending this to family and friends - in fact have done so already!
Hiya Carol Thanks very much for your nice review of my cottage and Llanberis, it was a shame you couldn't have stayed longer. But im glad you enjoyed your short break and had some nice weather to go with it.
