The North Wales region
North Wales has by far the UK's widest variety of scenery and things to do - all within a half-hour's journey time. It contains the Snowdonia National Park - 827 sq.miles and 37 miles of coastline and 14 mountains over 3000 feet. This includes Snowdon at 3560 feet (1085m) - the highest in Wales and England. It's perfect for every sport activity or you can simply sit back, do nothing and drink in the beauty.
Llanberis is nearby town to set off for the Snowdon railway or to walk up our highest mountain), 10 minutes from historic Caernarfon with its famous castle, 10 minutes from Bangor for shopping.
There are many places to visit in the area; Snowdon and the mountain walks of the area are always popular. The historic castles at Caernarfon, Conwy and Beaumaris are all worth a visit, as are the nearby famous Welsh narrow gauge steam railways. Also available locally are riding, mountain biking, golf, fishing, climbing, diving, bird watching and lovely beaches. There are a number of country parks, theme parks and other attractions particularly aimed at families with children. We provide information and briefing on local visitor attractions and eating places.

"Excellent location - Lovely views - Very comfortable"
Cottage is clean and in an excellent location for walking and indeed driving out to the local sights. It accommodated our family with teenagers and their grandmother easily and has excellent amenities.
There is good access to the property, ample parking space and loads of local information inside to make good use of for a day out.
We're so pleased Trosgol worked so well and look forward to welcoming you back here.

"Great location and views at a great price"
We used Trosgol cottage as a base for a walking and cycling weekend in Snowdonia.
The cottage is comfortable, clean and spacious.
Beautiful location with excellent views.
Ample parking and space for walking/cycling/climbing gear.
Would be perfect for families as there is a childrens bedroom with bunkbeds.
I found the price very reasonable - we booked out of season and I thought it was cheap.
Overall I would definitely recommend Trosgol cottage either for groups of friends or a family booking. .
Thanks so much. We've really tried to make Trosgol work well for walkers and cyclists.

"Fantastic base for a beautiful area"
My wife and I along with our terrier, wanted to walk Snowdonia . Our cousin was in training to climb Kilimanjaro for a cancer charity, so she also wanted to come. Her mum and step father wanted a break , but not as strenuous as Snowdon.
This accomodation offered ample room for all, it is right in the centre for all the most popular sites. The cottage is fresh, and has great amenities, a real home for home. The owners are on hand for any advice on trips and local sites.
We fully intend to return, and would strongly recommend this accomodation .
Thanks so much, we look forward to your next stay.

"Excellent cottage, well located, helpful hosts!"
The cottage was really well located, 15 mins from the Ogwen valley and 15 mins from Llanberis. On the occasionally days that we had bad weather it was quick and simple to get to the coast to enjoy better weather. As the cottage is at the northern end of the Glyders the walking/running potential from the front door was really good, particularly recommend the horse shoe round the reservoir (2 hour run or 4 hour walk.) Even the climbing is reasonable as access to Bus Stop Quarry is pretty close.
The cottage itself was comfortable, clean and easy to live in. We did have a little argument over the main bedrooms but only because they were both so appealing.
All in all a great cottage, we plan on going back regularly!
Glad you had such a good time. Welcome back soon and enjoy more Snowdonia.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Trosgol Fawr. I highly recommend this property to families with children. The inside of the property is spacious and our children enjoyed playing in the garden. The views of the mountains are great and the owners were very welcoming and helpful.
Thanks for kind words - Trosgol works best with families with kids.

"Everything is really good - accommodation, location, view of Snowdon, Paul & Christine"
We had a great week at Trosgol. We were in the larger cottage. Paul and Christine live right next to the two cottages (adjoining) and have really thought through what you need in a good holiday cottage. Right down to the little details. A lot of care. We took advantage of their offer to receive a Tesco online shop delivery before we arrived on the Saturday which was really useful.
The setting is great. Literally a view of the peak of Snowdon a few miles away. Nice garden, with patio and lawn, and lovely planting as well. 5 minutes to Llyn Padarn (great swimming and water play at The Coves). 10 minutes to Llanberis. 15 minutes in to Bangor - and less to the big Tesco on the edge of Bangor. Anglesey with its beautiful beaches like Newborough and Aberfraw (absolute gem that is little known) within 40 minutes (15 minutes to get on the island).
If you cycle there is bike storage space in a shed behind the garage. And there are some great dedicated cycle paths in the area. The coastal stretch from Bangor to Caernarfon and beyond is delightful, and not at all demanding. Caernarfon gets better and better.
The upstairs bedrooms are very nice - all wooden and characterful and great views. The downstairs bedroom is great for young children - very colourful with 4 bunks. We can vouch for the sturdiness of these bunks, as over our first weekend we had 4 late teen, early 20s men in them!
All in all, strongly recommend.
Thanks for those kind words - you certainly got the most from Trosgol.

"Lovely house, excellent location, helpful hosts"
Trosgol is an excellent property for a holiday with family and friends. The house is very clean and well equipped. The lovely home made Welsh cakes on arrival were just the thing after a long car journey. Paul and Christine were on hand to show us round and explain how everything worked. There is an extensive library of information about local places to visit and Paul and Christine's restaurant and take-away recommendations were great choices.
One of the highlights for us was the view from the master bedroom upstairs; to be able to sit in bed with a cup of tea and gaze out towards the summit of Snowdon was wonderful. We were there in summer but I can imagine this is wonderful in winter when there is snow.
The garden is a lovely place to sit and look at the views of the Snowdon range or enjoy a BBQ or a well earned beer at the end of a long days walking. You can walk and cycle straight from the door or its a short drive to any of the main Snowdonia valleys. From the house you can see all the way to Anglesey which is useful – if there's cloud or rain on the mountains its often sunny on Anglesey and there are some lovely coastal walks on Anglesey or the Lleyn Peninsular.
We stayed in August 2011 and had various family and friends coming and going for all and part of the week. Paul and Christine very helpfully provided clean sheets and towels as we needed them. As hosts they are on-hand when you need them but you still feel like you have the place to yourselves.
We would definitely recommend Trosgol.
Thanks for the review - you certainly used it as a relaxing base!

"A clean house with nice bedrooms and access to a nice garden with a splendid view of the mountains"
The hosts were extremely helpful in providing information about the local area and potential recreational and cultural activities.
The property has a very nice location: quit surroundings and a fantastic view of the landscape.
What we liked most was the view from the house and the garden, the hosts and that the house was well organised and sufficiently equiped.
What we liked least were that the madras of at least one twinbed was not very good. But UK standards on maddrasses seems in general to differ from our own country.
We replaced two single mattresses after your stay and look forward to welcoming you again.
