Home description

In centre of Ljubljana; on the edge of old part; few hundred meters to Tripple bridge, Dragon bridge, Castle funicular, museums, galeries, Green market, Flea market, water centre, railway and bus station, but still quiet as it is normal residential apartment block.

This is a lovely two bedroom apartment, equipped with new kitchen, dining set, sofa, living room furniture, beds and bedroom furniture. Far enough from roads passing (no traffic noise), but still easy accesible with a car. Parking space is available behind a barrier in front of the building (under the kitchen window), but there is also a parking garage 100 meters away, opened 24/7/365.

The apartment was complitely renovated in June 2008 (except bathroom and toilet).

The Ljubljana/Central Slovenia region

Ljubljana itselve can offer you nice and pleasure stay for a day, weekend or whole week. You have big shoping centres (the biggest are BTC and RUDNIK), spa and water centre (in BTC shopping area), tennis courts, golf course, historical monuments, cultural, sport and other events.

SKI SEASON: We work with a company, few meters away from our apartment, which is specialized in organizing skiing, ski lessons, transport of skiers from Ljubljana to ski resorts and back every day, transport from airport to apartment and back, etc. You can get discounts on their prices if you stay in our apartment. Just say us your whishes and we will pass them to the company.

From Ljubljana you have 1 hour to the beach, skiing resorts (you can go skiing every day to the other ski resort and it will take around an hour by car), high mountains (30 minutes), other spa and water centres (30 - 70 minutes), caves (Postojna cave 40 minutes, Skocjanske jame 45 minutes), golf courses (40 minutes) etc. Some distance to famous towns in Slovenia: 55 km to Bled, 85 km to Kranjska gora, 75 km to Celje, 120 km to Portoroz (coast), 125 km to Maribor, 70 km to Novo mesto, 105 km to Bohinj.

Ljubljana City area

In Ljubljana you have really a lot to see and most of it is on walking distance. Using a bycycle you can easy access all places you would like to and we rent out 2 bycycles for free (more you can rent in a local shop, 100 meters from apartment).

In Ljubljana and around you can find a lot of festivals, which are daily or up to few months long lasting. Ljubljana summer festival is one of the biggest and longest festivals. Then you have through spring, summer and autumn a lot of weekend festivals in Ljubljana or other cities around and each is dedicated to something (shoe makers, local heroes, ancient times, food, beer, etc).

How to get there

By plain with cheap flights to airports:
LJUBLJANA-BRNIK (35 km away; with EasyJet from the UK, Brussels airlines from Belgium, ClickAir from Barcelona),
TRIESTE-REDIPUGLIA Italy (120 km away; RyanAir from UK),
KLAGENFURT Austria (86 km away; RyanAir from UK),
GRAZ Austria (195 km away; RyanAir from UK),
ZAGREB Croatia (150 km; WizzAir from UK).

By train: you can come from Venezia (Italy), Munich (Germany), Vienna (Austria), Budapest (Hungary), Zagreb (Croatia). Railway station is just 600 meters from the apartment!

By car: all mayor international roads from Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia are passing Ljubljana. Yu can park your car in front of the building or in the parking garage, 100 meters away.

Firstly, we are very gratefull to our wonderful and thoughtfull hosts, Aneta and Gorazd. Their kindness was very much appreciated. For suggestion if you want a great meal and charming atmosphere we recommend the Pizzeria Kavalino at Trubarjeva 52 a short walk away and on the left, down the alleyway. If planning a trip to Bled, stop at Skofja Loka for a morning coffee and stroll through the old town. Avoid Bled on weekends as traffic in the area is heavy. Take the trolley to the fair side of the lake for great view and a swim. There is no parking except in lower Bled by the Sports Arena.
Though we did not make use of the offer, I recommend biking through old Ljubljana as it is safe, with little vehicle traffic. It is vell worth watching the sun rise over the city at 5:30 and taking a quiet walk or bicycle ride through the streets.
We loved the apartment, its convenience and location. Next visit ve hope to stay longer. So this is a great location for day trips through the region.

Our stay in Slovenia was very nice. Our hosts were great and they were very helpful. One day we rented a car and went to Piran, a costed city on the Adriatic and went swimming. Then we went to Skocjanske Jama caves which I highly recommend if you like to walk. Then we went to Predjama Castle, a castle built in to a rock cliff, thought we didn't have time to go in it, I recommended going there… Its very close to Postojna caves.

We are travelling with car around Europe and this has been the best experience so far. An excellent apartment, nothing is missing! It's worth to go upstairs to the roof (13th floor) to see beautiful view to Ljubljana – view is even better than from the Ljubljana Castle. Test slovenian speciality: Horse Burger – if you are really hungry 'cause burgers are huge near here (»Hot Horse« in Trubarjeva). If possible and Aneta and Gorazd have time go together to the centre have a bier or something – and ask them to show the way to the »Horror Bar« it was an interesting, small local pub.

We came to Ljubljana for the European masters Athletic champs and have had both successful and thoroughly enjoyable time. In between competing in athletics we visited Lake Bled by bus for a relaxing time. Take your swim wear and towel for a relaxing and cooling dip, after exploring the castle.
We also took the train to Divaca and took the walk to awesome caves at Skocjan. The nature path leads to the caves.Caves take min of 1 and half hour actually inside plus a hour or two to walk around the area.
In Ljubljana local pizza was good starting point (see text from John, Denise, Riley…). Ice-cream along eipprova ulica and pubs were great.

We all had a wonderful time and we love Slovenia. We went on trips by bus and train to Lake Bled, Piran and the Caves ant they were all brilliant. Take you swimmwear to Bled and Piran. Local transport (buses & trains) were good but experienced a few delays.
Metro Taxis extremly good value. The telephone no. Is 0038641240200. The Slovenian tourist information is excellent especially the man in the train station site.
Ljubljana is brilliant with the numerous amount of cofes, side streets and markets. We loved Cafe Cocoa near the Triple bridge.
Best of all was the flat and Aneta & Gorazd's hospitality. They were helpfull and friendly and the flat's situation is perfect!

Thank you very much for your hospitality and welcoming us in Ljubljana . Your apartment was exactly what we needed, and we felt at home right away! As it is central and close to everything it couldn’t have been better. You made our stay for the EASA conference very comfortable and your help with finding our way in the city was just great!
The things we most enjoyed: the cafes along the water (cacao for great thick chocolate milk), Metelkova, with different “alternative” clubs and artists’ workshops, the coffee shop on the congress square which has amazing cakes!! On Sunday we visited the flee market, which was very nice. Another good idea: go to Bled on a day trip, we hired a car with a few people, which was really worth it.
All in all, we highly recommend the apartment to anyone who wants to experience Ljubljana . We hope to see you another time!
