Condo | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
Studio apt in 1864 chateau on 40-acre 17th century estate 1/2 hour from Paris. Second home only, not a primary residence -- weekends, vacations, as long as you want, but residents must have another primary residence. I can offer only stays of six months or more. Not a 1BR but a studio.
Full of light, everything furnished, beautiful view over burbling fountain & over 17th-century bldgs & sunrise. Bathroom (sink, toilet, shower), well-equipped tiny kitchen & shared kitchen downstairs, heated pool within ancient walls, tennis court, 2 ornamental ponds, orchard, gardens, a greenhouse/glasshouse, silent at night & birdsong by day. Your TV & Internet option.
Nearby are lovely rural walks and bike rides, little towns with great well-priced restaurants, concerts in churches and ancient buildings, horses to ride, rivers to sail, museums to visit, Champagne region, Disney.
The studio can't be a primary residence or a short stay. It's for weekends and holidays in the country, where you'll sleep like a log, wake up to birdsong, and make pleasant new friends. A caretaker and a security man/gardener are on site and can provide information and help that you negotiate with them.

Paris is 1/2 hour away by car, 45 minutes by train (7 euros) or bus (1.5 euros plus a further bus ride to the Paris Metro). Our part of the Ile de France gives you the Champagne region and many beautiful rural areas and towns with excellent and well-priced small restaurants on rivers and other lovely settings, great fairs and markets, excellent fresh food AND convenient super markets. The nearest city is Meaux, and beautiful and ancient town on the river, famous for mustard and brie. EuroDisney also is near.
The chateau is a 15-20-minute walk to Lizy sur Ourcq, which has two great bakeries and all the services -- the small-town shops and some chain stores, English- and French-speaking doctor and insurance agent, the main banks, pharmacies, restaurants, post office, discount gas station, dollar store, super market, etc. The Canal d'Ourcq is right in town and provides man beautiful spots. The local market sells postcards and old pictures of the chateau.
