Historical Facts
•In 1851-60 the Great Float opens, formed by closing Wallasey Pool and using Egerton Dock as an entrance. It was planned as a link to other docks but became a dock in its own right, which was split into East and West Float Quays.
•Throughout the 1850s East Float Quay was used as a departure point for emigrants on ships bound for Australia.
•In 1866 the Alfred Dock was built to bring in grain to East Float Mill.
•In 1879 the world’s first submarine Resurgam II was launched, which had the capacity to stay underwater for four hours.
•In 1893 when a further four mills were built in Birkenhead Merseyside became the biggest flour milling centre in Europe.
•In 2001 the release of film The 51st State starring Samuel L. Jackson, Meat Loaf, Robert Carlyle and Ricky Tomlinson, saw East Float Quay play a starring role in the warehouse party scene.
•In 2006 East Float Quay won a prestigious Regeneration Award.
Today East Float is a regenerated Victorian Grade II listed warehouse containing luxury Dockside apartments. East Float has been sympathetically restored, retaining much of its original cast iron and both of its imposing iconic central towers. The complex has been designed to work in harmony with its historical waterfront location.

‘Excellent stay at East Float, would stay again’
Lesley & 3 guests, Poole 5th-8th August 2011
‘We had a very pleasant stay – there wasn’t a thing we didn’t enjoy. Thanks!’
Wendy, & 3 guests, USA 29th May - 1st June 2011
‘Thank-you for your hospitality whilst we stayed at your Mersey View apartments. East Float 1 and East Float 2 are both a credit to you and we felt like we were 'home from home'. The wedding was a success and the bride was beautiful. We will certainly recommend your apartments and the added personal touch, to anyone we know who is visiting the Wirral/Liverpool. Thank-you once again, and we hope to use your apartments again at another time when we come for a visit.
Lorraine and Darren, Jersey

Ciara and four guests, County Clare, Ireland
‘Perfect. Only real problem was leaving the comfort of the apartment to visit family or some of the many attractions! Born and bred in Bromborough and never visited Port Sunlight properly until now, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Attentiveness of Mersey View just right. Thanks for a perfect short break!’
Mr & Mrs Selby and three children, Wales
‘Perfect apartment and a very warm personal welcome. A fantastic place to rest after exhibiting each day at the Pageant of Power event in Liverpool. The team said everything about our stay was spot on from the information provided to the personal meet and greet to the attention to detail to the standard of service and cleanliness of the apartment. Mersey View went up above and beyond in terms of customer service - when one of the guys was injured they even assisted us on our stand in Liverpool. They took customer care to a whole new level and we have nothing but praise for Mersey View and their apartment. The 5 star service matches the 5 star apartment. Great service, great value for money more than met our expectations on every level.’
Andrew Terry, Virtual F1 Driver, http://virtualf1driver.com/
‘Since finding east Float Quay Penthouse and The Collegiate Penthouse. I don’t stay anywhere else in Liverpool or Wirral! The views are even more stunning in Spring and it really is a place that provides the perfect peaceful retreat. We had a trip to Crosby this time, amazing sunsets and worth the trip’.

‘Even though it was a short stay, it has been so nice to have home from home comforts. Apartment facilities, quality, security and car parking all excellent, we would recommend and stay again.’
Mr & Mrs Sturges and 3 children, Shropshire
‘Spoil yourself’ My husband and I decided to escape for 2 nights, we wanted something a bit special - we got it when we stayed at the penthouse. It blew us both away, every comfort had been thought about. The place is certainly luxurious and the views from the balcony are fabulous. The owners pull out all the stops to ensure you have a good time, the telephoned us on our second night to check we were enjoying ourselves. They welcomed us with a bottle of wine! The evening views are really nice…I am so glad we spoilt ourselves.
