About the home

The first cottage was finished in September 2010. Formerly part of the shippon and barn, it now provides spacious accommodation for two, mixing traditional features with all mod cons.

The second cottage, which was formerly part of the barn, was completed in March 2011. What was formerly the barn door now provides light into the downstairs living area and large bedroom above making both rooms very bright and airy. The smaller bedroom has spectacular views over the South Pennine moors.

For those who enjoy outdoor activities this is the perfect location, with many walking routes from short strolls to full day hikes leading straight from the door. The Pennine Way and the Pennine Bridleway are close by and we overlook Hollingworth Lake with its Watersport Activity Centre and Whittaker Golf Club.

Private cobbled patios with garden furniture. Ample private off road parking. Under cover parking for motorcycles and bike wash facilities available.

Strictly no smoking inside the cottage.
Refundable breakages deposit of £200 required on arrival, to be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).

The Northern England / Greater Manchester region

Manchester with it's many attractions is only 30 minute drive or train journey from Littleborough. The Bronte Museum at Haworth are within easy reach. Hebden Bridge is only 20 minutes drive or train journey from Littleborough.

The Littleborough / Blackstone Edge area

Littleborough is a small town encircled by Pennine hills. It hosts two festivals a year: the Rushbearing at the end of July and the Arts Festival in September, both are growing in popularity. It has a mixture of independent shops and has a couple of small supermarkets where you can buy essential groceries.

It has a number of restaurants to suit most tastes and pockets. Demetris Greek Nights at the Coach House and the Rake Tapas are very popular with locals. It has three wine bars including 'Bar Wizards' and has a lively night life at weekends.

Hollingworth Lake, a mile or so away was built in the late eighteenth century as a reservoir for the Rochdale Canal. It has been a popular holiday destination since then and was known in Victorian times as 'The Weighvers Seaport'. It hosts a rowing and sailing club and the local authority run a new Watersport Activity Centre. Part of the lake has been designated as a wetland habitat and a hide has been built for Ornithologists. There are cafes and restaurants on the Lake Bank and a Visitors Centre which has lots of local information.

Blackstone Edge also boasts a Roman Road! There is much debate and speculation as to whether the straight road that runs over Blackstone is actually Roman or whether it is a packhorse route.

Flights to Manchester International, Railway connects to Manchester. Regular trains to Littleborough from Manchester Victoria.
By Car: An hour from Manchester Airport, Liverpool John Lennon and Leeds/Bradford does not take much longer. We are 10 minutes away from Junction 21 of M62.
