"Great break, lovely house and area, we've booked again already. Recommended!!"

9 of us (2 grandparents, 2 sets of parents, 3 children) stayed in Wellington House for 8 days in October 2013.

We used the house as a base for day trips around the Ring of Kerry, to Adare, Limerick, Killarney, the Cliffs of Moher and Tralee
There's lovely beaches nearby in Ballybunnion and Ballyheigue - we went walking on both, but it wasn't the right time of year for sunbathing or swimming!

There are lots of places nearby to go hill walking and hiking, into the forests and out across the hills and bog roads. With the kids, we could out the front door and turning right and walk 500 yards to reach the start of the forests.

The house is newly built, really big and very comfortable. It's a detached house, set well back from the road in a rural area. There was plenty of room for all of us, including a second living room, where the grandkids set up camp with their toys, while the adults mainly stuck to the main living room. On arrival, the house was clean and warm, the beds were made up, everything ready to go.

The kitchen is huge - no problem preparing meals even for our big group, and there's a dishwasher which isn't always the case in rentals. The two biggest bedrooms are en-suite, and there are two other bathrooms, so no problem with everyone getting ready to head out in the mornings. There's a washing machine/dryer and a TV, all of which you need when you have kids with you :-)

You definitely need a car to stay here - it's set well back from the road in a quiet rural area.
It's about 1 mile back to the junction with the main road from Tralee to Listowel. From there it's about 5 miles to Listowel or 9 miles to Tralee There's a good selection of restaurants between Listowel and Tralee, and supermarkets (Lidl, Tesco, SuperValu etc.) and other shops in both.

We had one wet and cold day during our trip (it was October in Kerry after all!) - we went to the Aquadome in Tralee for the afternoon.
Because we had small kids with us, we were a bit limited in how late we could stay out in the evenings. Most evenings, after we got back and put the kids to bed, we lit up the cast iron stove in the living room and relaxed

We really did enjoy our stay. We've recommended it to friends, and I've already booked another stay there for July of this year,
