Ksa Sou Guesthouse 1
Guest house | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 5
Enjoy and relax holidays by the countryside in South Crete and in a cottage house dating back to 1900. The 75sqm two floor house, built from stone and a fine example of Cretan rural architecture, was entirely renovated and transformed into a holiday house offering its guests the comforts of a 3* hotel. The guest house is located in the heart of the picturesque village of Listaros and for its renovation the basic construction materials of the area are used - wood and stone. The original plain cubic form was maintained in order to preserve the “character” of a typical cottage of the broader region and Listaros. At the same time, a lot of attention was paid to its equipment in order to meet the needs and the standards of a comfort and modern accommodation. The house is fully equipped with all necessary amenities and utensils and from its first floor balcony offers a spectacular view to Psiloritis Mountain and the Libyan sea.
Listaros lies at the edge of the western point of mount Asterousia. The village with the magnificent view offers the last passage from Mesara Plain to the Asterousia mountain and the south coast and Libyan sea. Records reveal that the village exists since 1577.

The Crete region
In an island full of climatologically and environmental diversities, the area of the Mesara (South Heraklion) has a unique character and a lot of diversities to offer itself. It is the largest plain of Crete that extends to the central and southern region of
Heraklion County. It is surrounded from the north by mount Idi (Psiloritis), from east by mount Dicti and from south by mount Asterousia that meet with the Libyan Sea.
While the land of the Mesara plain is one of the most fertile on the island, the landscape changes dramatically as the traveller
reaches mount Asterousia. A few small ports are the only ones that disrupt the deserted scenery.
Monkshood blossomed here from the 7th till the 15th century, something that can be easily detected by the number of monasteries and sketes found in the near gorges and canyons. Some of the finest examples are the monasteries of Odigitrias, Koudouma and Apezanon, the sketes of Saint Nikita, Marsalo and Agiofarago gorge. At the edge of the western point of mount Asterousia lies Listaros Village, the last passage to the mountain and the south coast. Records reveal that the village exists since
